"Need some help with that, short stack?" Stacey heard from over her shoulder, and if one of her hands had been free, she would have flipped Meatball off.

"You're only like, three inches taller than I am, shut the fuck up," she responded as her fingers closed around the last bottle of ink she was reaching for. She disliked using magic on tattoo supplies unless it was for the art itself, since she was always worried about some unintended consequence. It was unlikely that a simple Accio would have any impact, but she wasn't going to take any chances.

"It's at least four, but I also know where the step stool is," her employee told her, and she could hear the grin in his words. Glancing over her shoulder, she stuck her tongue out at the older man before stepping over to the counter of the booth to set down everything she'd grabbed for Charlie's session.

"Don't you have anything better to do than stand there and watch me get ready for a client?" she asked, sorting out the pile into something resembling a sense of order.

"Nope," he answered, and Stacey turned around, rolling her eyes, to punch him playfully in the shoulder. "Getting better, I almost felt that this time!" Meatball said, backing away with a laugh when she glared at him.

Shaking her head in amusement, she turned back to what she was doing, making sure she had all the ink she needed, needles carefully laid out beside them, wanting to ensure that she had as much ready to go as possible before Charlie arrived.

Charlie had been looking forward to this day ever since he'd booked the session, and even back as far as when he'd chosen his design with Stacey. Taking part in the St. Patrick's scavenger hunt with her had been a lot of fun, even though they hadn't won.

After two nights of St. Patrick's themed cocktails and decorations he had been glad to return to normal for Saturday, even if it was still busy. Despite the late night he'd woken far earlier than usual and skipped putting on his prosthetic, not wanting his stump under pressure before got his new ink, plus he knew that putting it on to go was only going to result in having to carry it home again, which seemed pointless.

After he'd eaten his middle-of-the-day breakfast and shoved a banana and a paper bag of nuts in the pockets of his leather jacket he played with Echo for a while before he needed to leave.

He knew from when he'd first lost his leg that apparating on crutches took a bit of getting used to, but even though he was out of practice he managed it without too much wobbling and quickly made his way over to the shop, pushing open the door to the shop with a grin on his face and easily using one crutch to swing the door closed behind him. He often felt a little self-conscious when he was out with one of his trouser legs pinned up, but he was feeling fine about it today.

Once she was sure that she wasn't going to be interrupted again, Stacey returned her attention to the supplies she was going to need, recounting everything again after double-checking the design, and ensuring she had the copy on transfer paper handy.

She'd chosen the single booth on the right side of the parlor for Charlie's session, not only because she thought it would be more easily accessible, but also because it was the one that it was easiest to throw up the privacy curtains on. They didn't always get used, but she cast the charm to establish the rods and the fabric around the area that would stay up until the session was done, unless Charlie had an objection to them.

At the sound of the bell over the door, Stacey glanced out of the booth she was prepping, grinning at Charlie when she saw him. "Hey there!" she greeted, motioning with her hand for him to come towards her as she continued, "Come on back, I'm getting everything prepped for you."

"Hey, Stacey," he said, and headed towards her. "I see we've both managed to drag ourselves away from our cats today," he said, then glanced down to see if he was covered in more cat hair than usual thanks to playing with an enthusiastic Echo. Thankfully there didn't seem to be too much and the muted colours he'd chosen to put on didn't show it up too badly.

He made his way to the booth quickly, glancing at the screens in mild confusion. From what he'd seen before privacy screening wasn't too common in tattoo parlours unless particularly private areas were concerned and that didn't apply here. On the other hand he wasn't exactly eager to display his stump to everyone who might walk in. Not that he was ashamed or embarrassed by it generally, more that it tended to lead to a lot of tedious and repetitive questions.

"On the table to wait while you're finishing set-up?" he asked, pausing as he rounded the screen, watching her set up for a few seconds. It was good to see she was dedicated to what she did. He'd got that impression from when they first met, but it was even more obvious when he saw her like this.

Chuckling at the comment, she said, "It was tough, I admit. Though, since I bring them in sometimes when I don't have anyone scheduled, I suppose I can't really complain." She hadn't done that in a while though, mostly because she felt better knowing that Zacharias had their company while he was recovering and she was gone.

With a nod of her head, Stacey said with a smile, "Yes, please! I'm just about set, so we'll get you ready, and then we should be good to go." She didn't expect it to take very long to get everything started, which could only be a good thing.

"So we're looking at about three and a half hours, give or take about thirty minutes, unless we encounter anything strange. You;ve eaten today, right?" She'd learned long ago to ask that question, after having someone pass out in the middle of session because they hadn't, and nowadays she would insist on her patrons having something in their bodies before she started - Stacey really didn't want to have a repeat of that particular episode.

"I know what you mean. I woke up earlier than I'd planned so I spent some time just playing with Echo. It might make up for me wincing every time he jumps on my leg for a while. Well, that and he might piss Romi off less if she's about."

He slid onto the table, putting his crutches together and letting them fall to the floor as softly as possible. He guessed that was probably his cue to get comfortable and removed his jacket and undid the buckle and zip on his lone boot, pulling it off and letting it fall to the floor with his crutches. Today's random sock selection (his mum had a tendency to try experimental patterns out on him because he only needed one) was bright purple with a cable that was meant to look like a snitch but mostly looked sort of broken. It was comfy though so he wore it.

He nodded and produced his banana and nuts combo from his jacket pocket. "Yup, and I brought supplies just in case I start feeling like shit," he said, holding them victoriously. "Time to strip then, I guess," he added, immediately beginning to unbutton his combat trousers. There was no way she would be able to tattoo his whole stump through rolling his trouser leg out of the way. At least getting undressed sitting down was pretty familiar to him now and he'd never been very body shy.

"Excellent!" she said with a grin at seeing Charlie's 'supplies'. It was always nice to work with someone who knew what to except when getting ink. That wasn't to say that she didn't enjoy introducing people to tattoos - some of her best work had been on individuals going under the needle for the first time.

While Charlie was undressing and getting settled, Stacey continued her own preparations, bringing over the tray of ink and needles to be within easy reach, and adjusting her stool to ensure that it was at the proper height for her to work. She did one more check that everything was ready before turning back to him. "Did you have any questions before we get started?" she asked, just to cover all her bases.

When Charlie was done removing his trousers, which require a little more bending and huffing than for most people, he folded them and set them aside with his jacket and snacks. This was one of those moments when Charlie thought Stacey was probably glad that he went in for muggle underwear instead of the traditional nothing. In today's case boxer-briefs so he wouldn't accidentally flash his artist. It seemed impolite; which he wasn't, despite the swearing.

"Just the one question really," he said. It had been quite a while since his last tattoo and everyone worked differently, especially with his scarring coming into play. "Are you planning on working from the middle up? I mean whatever works for you is fine, but, you know, if we're starting on the extra painful bit give me a couple of seconds to relax or whatever," he said, grinning and waving his stump slightly. It still moved like a regular leg, just with the lower half missing which meant he could sometimes surprise people by moving it in circles or something. At least there was fairly little hair on it, despite him being somewhat hairy in general, the protective sleeve he wore between his leg and the prosthetic kept most of it at bay lower down like socks did for ankles.

"Oh, and how'd you want me?" he added, making as if to lie down.

As he finished getting prepared, Stacey began her own steps, washing her hands in the small sink in the corner of the booth before pulling on a pair of latex gloves. Her mind was already beginning to shift into work-mode, allowing her to concentrate and focus on the task at hand for as long as necessary until the ink was done, so it took her a moment longer than it normally would have for her to understand what Charlie had asked.

"That's the plan," she answered with a nod of her head. "Normally, I'd do the outlines of everything and then go back to fill in the color, but for this I'm going to go section by section so we don't have to basically do the whole thing twice." It was a little different from her normal routine, but she thought that this manner of work would be easier and less painful for Charlie, at least in the long run, which was why she had decided to go about it in such a way.

Glancing over as she grabbed the transfer paper containing the pattern, she flashed him a grin before saying, "Right in the middle of the table is good. Get comfortable - once I start, you're going to be stuck there for a while."

"Makes sense," Charlie said, plus the design he'd chosen had rather less of an outline than many designs, certainly less so than his two previous tattoos. "And thanks for that, I mean sure I'm okay with the pain, but no need to double it up."

He shifted himself around until he was in the centre and lay himself back until he was comfy. "Think this'll do me. Although if you need me to hold my leg off the table I'm going to need to stick something underneath it because I don't think I can be in pain and keep my leg in the fucking air," he said. He was a realised. His muscles had developed so he could hold his leg in the air just fine with or without a prosthetic on for fairly long periods, but add pain into that and he was pretty sure he had no chance of not flinching out of the way.

Stacey smiled at him again, a little absentminded this time, as she said, "Of course! Anything to make the process easier on you."

Glancing over at the statement and the way Charlie was positioned, she hummed quietly in thought for a moment. "You are probably right. Gimme just a sec," she said, snapping off her gloves before kneeling to rummage under the counter. A moment later she popped back up, a small pillow in hand, and handed it over to him, saying, "See if that will work for you. I don't want to put on the design until you're totally settled." She felt more than a little silly for not thinking of that earlier, biting her lower lip nervously as she racked her brain for other things she may forgotten.

Charlie took the pillow with a little nod of thanks and shifted it around a little until it was in a position that would hold his leg up without getting in the way too much. "I think this should work, thanks," he said, as he lay back again. "Honestly though, I don't mind getting a bit poked around a bit, I'm not fragile, missing leg aside." People's responses to discovering he was missing a leg were pretty varied and thinking he was somehow fragile was pretty common if people didn't already know him. Stacey didn't really seem to be in that column, but it was always worth a reminder.

"It'll be good to have a few days off after this, means I can hang around my flat and just have to worry about warding off the cat rather than too much moving," he said.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, Stacey smiled when it seemed that Charlie was settled again. "Well, I'll try not to move you around too much, at least," she said, starting her preparations over again.

Sitting down on her stool at the end of table, she said, "That sounds like an excellent plan to me. All work and no play and all that jazz." She made sure that Charlie could see her moving to touch him before beginning to apply disinfectant - she hated catching people off guard the first time she touched them during the process. Picking up the transfer paper, she explained, "I'm gonna go ahead and lay this, but since it's just the trace we can always move it if you want." Carefully, she pressed the paper against Charlie's leg, smoothing it outwards from the center, and allowing a moment or two for the ink to migrate to his skin before peeling it away. "If that looks good to you, then I'll get the first gun ready," she said, pulling back slightly to give him enough space to maneuver and examine the design.

Charlie snorted, trying not to move as Stacey settled the trace into position. "I have been accused of being all work and no play, which given previous experience I would never have fucking believed, but it turns out getting a business off the ground is hard work!" He was pretty sure she knew about that at least. Plus he suspected he was rather more replaceable at his job than she was at hers.

He looked at the blue lines that delineated the different coloured squares and raised his leg and shifted slightly so he could see the underside too. He nodded slowly in appreciation. "Looks good to me," he said, settling back again and clapping his hands together. "Let's get started." This process had been a long time coming really, not just from when he'd first come into the shop, but right back when he was still getting used to and accepting the new way his body looked and moved. This was definitely beyond acceptance, this was making it something to be proud of.

Stacey chuckled as she said, "Oh, I can absolutely believe it. I spent the first four months convinced that if I wasn't here every single day that something would fall apart and all my hard work would be ruined."

With a grin, she answered, "Fantastic!" Bobbing her head slightly to the song currently playing - she'd been on a Billy Joel streak today, and hadn't bothered to change the disc before getting started with Charlie - she prepped the first vial of ink, buzzing it once as a test before saying, "Anytime you need me to stop for whatever reason, just say something, okay?" She made sure she was looking at him for his approval before beginning.

As usual with an ink gun in her hand, Stacey got into a bit of her own headspace while working, her focus narrowing to the ink and what she was doing, even the music fading into the background a bit. While she didn't rush, she also made sure that she wasn't lingering too terribly long on any one part, a delicate balance that she was grateful to have mastered a few years ago by this point. In her zone like this, she didn't particularly notice the passing of time, and her only guide for how long she'd been working was the amount of ink already on skin and the number of times she'd needed to change up her gun.

Charlie nodded his understanding as Stacey did her final bits of preparation, knowing he'd need a break at some point, it was a big piece after all. Plus there was only so long she could work without a break too.

The initial couple of minutes were always very painful and Charlie concentrated on breathing and trying hard not to flinch away from the source of pain. After a while though it became pretty normal though and he was able to relax and listen to the strains of the music over the buzz of the tattoo gun. It wasn't someone he was familiar with but the mixture of upbeat but relaxed feel was both entertaining and soothing.

For a while he just listened, partly distracting himself from some of the particularly painful bits, partly because he enjoyed most kinds of music. It wasn't the easiest angle to watch what Stacey was doing, and the fact she was working upwards really made it particularly hard to see to start with. After half an hour or so he started to notice the other reaction his body was having. He'd forgotten that particular reaction, and his previous two pieces had been on his upper body so he'd kept his trousers on and it had been concealed. His boxers on the other hand... not so concealing. There was definitely starting to be a noticeable tent happening. Shit.

He sighed. "Can we, er, take a break soon?" he said, not sure if rushing to cover his crotch was the best or worst course he could take. He'd been told by one of his previous artists that it wasn't too uncommon a reaction to the pain, but Charlie had found it pretty awkward. More so now. There was a woman pretty close to his groin, which was doing nothing for him, but the pain on the other hand had other ideas.

Stacey had been lost in her own mind, that place she went to when concentrating on the task at hand, so it took her a moment to really understand what Charlie had said. Pulling the gun away from his skin and examining the progress so far, she nodded as an answer while attempting to find her voice.

She didn't look away from the area she was inking at the time as she answered, "Certainly. I've got one more block with this color, and then we'll pause for a bit, if that's okay?" She wouldn't have asked if there had been any more pain or hesitation in her customer's tone, but Charlie sounded as though everything was going fine, and had said 'soon' instead of 'now'. That, along with knowing he'd had tattoos done before, had her thinking that he just needed a few minutes to stretch out and rearrange, muscles starting to hurt from staying in one place for too long. It wasn't unusual, she knew from experiences on both sides of the gun, though admittedly she was being even more careful than normal, what with the location and situation of Charlie's ink.

Merlin, Circe, and bloody Godric, Charlie thought. All he said though, was. "That's fine." At least Stacey didn't appear to be looking at anything but his leg right now, and that was more than fine by him. He assessed moving his hands again. He was pretty sure his erection would be noticeable once Stacey looked up, but also fairly convinced that if he did put his hands over his groin he'd groan in a spectacularly inappropriate fashion.

He decided to risk it and shifted his hands so they were resting in his lap putting as little pressure as possible on the increasingly insistent ache between his legs. A little huff escaped him but nothing more, and hopefully this next section wouldn't take long so he could do... something. Of course his problem was that his lack of sexual desire also meant that he generally didn't have an outlet for erections outside of his own hand, or indeed anything in his imagination to quell the bloody thing. He stared at the ceiling waiting for Stacey to announce their break.

Nodding slightly in confirmation that she'd heard him, Stacey tried to finish quickly without rushing the process. There was a bit of tension in Charlie's tone, and she didn't want to cause him any stress. Once she was sure that the last block of color was settling the way it was supposed to, she turned off the ink gun and said, "Okay. Feel free to move around a little, but try not to let the ink touch anything, if you can."

Pulling off her gloves, Stacey finally looked up, noticing the physical reaction that was probably making Charlie uncomfortable. She patted his ankle reassuringly before standing, and said, "Don't worry, it happens all the time. Hell, it's happened to me in the middle of a session and I'm asexual, so... yeah. Weird, being on that side of things, but nothing to be concerned about, just a body's way of reacting to the pain."

She did make a point to turn her back to him slightly for a sense of privacy, moving to fiddle with the stereo in the corner of the booth.

Charlie, who had just been starting to sit up a bit to make his condition less obvious flopped back with a groan of both relief and frustration. "Oh, thank fuck for that," he said, still glad that she'd turned her back so he could cover his eyes with one hand and disavow the whole situation somewhat. "I'm asexual too and it's been, what probably three plus years since I had my last piece? I'd completely forgotten that it was a thing that fucking happens." He yanked his hand back off his eyes and glanced over at Stacey. "Didn't want you to think it was, you know, a you thing," he muttered.

He shifted carefully and did sit up then, left leg dangling off the side of the bench. "The other two are on my shoulder and back so it's easier to hide then too," he added slowly, examining the already completed parts of his leg. At least now the immediate impact of the ink gun had paused his dick was being less insistent.

Staley wanted to chuckle at the comment, because she'd had that exact same thought process before, but held it in, since she didn't want Charlie to think she was laughing at him. "It's always nice to meet someone of the same mindset," she said instead, risking a glance over her shoulder to see Charlie sitting up. "But yeah, it's a pretty common reaction, so..." She shrugged, trying to convey that the situation wasn't a big deal, and wasn't making her uncomfortable. Giving him a few more moments, she changed the disc in the player, exchanging Billy Joel for Phil Collins after a few seconds of deliberating on Jimmy Buffet.

"What do you think so far?" she asked, grabbing two bottles of water from the counter and offering one to Charlie as she came back over to the table. "We're actually about halfway done," Stacey commented before taking a sip, curious to know how the process was going on his end.

Charlie sighed, swinging his good leg slightly. "Well, it'd be nice if it wasn't a reaction I have, but I guess we can't have fucking everything," he said. At least she wasn't giving him shit about it, and she understood more than most other people would have done. He listened with interest as she changed the music, vaguely recognising the voice as someone he'd heard before.

He nodded his thanks as he took the bottle of water. "Ta," he said, twisting off the cap and taking a sip. "It's looking good," he said, tilting his head side to side so he could see more of the inked parts. "I mean it's puffy and bleeding, but I can see where it's going to turn out great," he said. That part of the experience he remembered vividly. His first dragon in particular had looked pretty awful at first because of the blood, at least this was pretty red so it blended in a bit. "I hadn't realised we were so far on though, got a bit distracted," he said, amusement lacing his tone.

She did chuckle at that comment, and said, "God, I know, right? Like, what is even happening right now? It's weird, dude."

Offering him a grin, Stacey answered, "Yeah, it's a little hard to tell in the middle of the process sometimes. But it is going well." Stretching her arms over her head for a moment, she laughed again at his mention of being distracted before saying, "Yeah, it's easy to lose track of time. We should be done pretty soon, so just let me know whenever you're ready to keep going."

Charlie snorted. Having someone who actually got the asexual side of things was unusual and a nice change. "So fucking weird. Basically the only time the damn thing..." he trailed off realising that was far more information than she likely wanted to know. "I'll just shut up now," he said ruefully.

Setting his bottle down Charlie grabbed the banana he'd stashed beside himself and opened it up and began eating. He didn't feel too bad really, but if he'd got about as long again to go he was pretty sure he'd feel woozy by the end. "I'll eat this first," he said, as he swallowed a bite. One of the advantages of living first in a large family, then at boarding school, then in a community of people who worked out of doors most of the time was developing a skill of speedy eating so he knew it wouldn't take him long. He looked back down at his stump and moved his muscles experimentally, watching the ink shift. It made him smile, felt like he was really making it his again.

Stacey didn't bother trying to hold back her laughter at that, her head thrown back slightly. "Trust me, I get it. I can guarantee that everything you're thinking right now has passed through my mind at least once or twice," she commiserated.

She nodded when Charlie made the decision to eat his snack, saying, "Good call. It never hurts to have some extra nutrients when losing some blood, even though it's not that much." Smiling at his actions, glad to see that he was having a good response to the ink and the process as a whole.

Rather than rush him into getting back under the needle, Stacey asked, "So how's business over at the club?" Her first year after opening the shop had been stressful, when she's been constantly worried that she'd made a terrible mistake and the concept of the parlor was going to come crashing down around her ears. Nowadays she was a little more even-keeled, but it was always nice to talk to someone who understood the ups and downs and ins and outs of everything that came with owning a business.

"It's good to meet someone who does actually get it. The people who told me ace as a word weren't actually ace themselves and I don't think I've met anyone else in the wizarding world," he said grinning. "And of course most people just don't get it even if they understand in theory." And that was a big if sometimes, he'd had a few experiences of people being huge dicks about it.

He snorted. "I'm from a big family and I until I lost my leg I did a fucking busy job, I am pretty much always happy to eat."

Realising that she wasn't going to start work again straight away he pulled over his nuts too and dug in. "Actually it's pretty good. I've got a great team, the new hires are working out well, we usually do good business, and LGBTQ night is really doing well. It's not been a year yet, but being able to expand like that already has been great. I mean I always hoped I'd be able to do it, but if the staff hadn't been behind me it wouldn't have been possible." He was often enthusiastic about talking about the club, and even though the numbers at the beginning had been a bit shaky here and there he was definitely on course to finish out his first year in a positive way. "I mean, it's a fucking huge change from the dragons, but it's good. I've always been a dancing and music fan, and I'm good at managing my money so it seemed like a good fit and something we were lacking around here."

Nodding her head, Stacey agreed, "Yeah, sometimes it's a really foreign concept to people and they can't seem to wrap their heads around it. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone say that I 'just haven't met the right man yet'." Even repeating the comment made her roll her eyes slightly. Her grandmother was still convinced that she and Zacharias were dating just because they lived together, no matter how many times she'd tried to dissuade the woman from that line of thinking.

She smiled at his answer, glad to hear that things were going well. "I know what you mean. If I didn't have Meatball around, I think I would have lost my mind by now." All things considered, the parlor probably could use at least one more artist, but for the time being they were doing fine. "It's good that you like it. I got obsessed with tattoos when I was seven, so opening my own shop was kind of a dream come true. I could hardly believe it for the first few weeks."

Charlie screwed his face up in distaste, he'd heard that phrase more than once, in more than one language. "I think Mum kind of hopes I'll still change my mind. I didn't tell her that once was enough to figure out that's fucking unlikely. Well, twice since I didn't want to rule men out." He shrugged easily. It turned out the guy he'd slept with was a good guy and they'd sort of become friends, which is why he'd ended up hanging out in the gay bar a lot and got a decent queer education. Well, a bit simplified and with some miscommunication at times because of the language barrier, but an education all the same. It was where he'd found the word for himself. Thankfully said friend had been understanding not dickish.

"I lost my favourite bartender back in January, she'd been with me since the start but she'd finished her apprenticeship and moved overseas." He missed Bobbi because he'd come to trust her, she had been one of his first hires and one that hadn't moved on or been fired within the first month or two. "I like the new staff though, and it's given everyone a bit more flexibility with their shifts." He offered the bag of nuts he was munching through to Stacey with an outstretched hand and raise of his eyebrows.

"I know that feeling from when I first got my job at the Reserve. I've always loved animals and dragons were the ultimate thing to me. Just these fucking huge deeply magical creatures that we sort of understand but we're still learning about. Muggles know about them but don't and it takes probably half a dozen fully trained wizards to do anything productive to one spell-wise but sometimes they'll let you near enough to touch them with no barrier and the rush you get is out of this world," he enthuses. Shit he misses that.

She nodded in agreement to the facial expression. "My abuela is like that. At this, I've almost given up on even trying to explain it to her." It was less of a headache for her that way.

"That's tough," Stacey said. "I'm lucky enough that Meatball's been here with me since the start. We're not quite busy enough to need anyone else, but if we keep growing at the rate that we seem to be, that might change in the future." She grabbed a handful of the snack with a grin of thanks, popping them into her mouth.

Offering him a small smile that was a little sad - it was obvious how much Charlie had enjoyed his work, and even more obvious that he wasn't going to be able to go back to it. "Sounds incredible," she answered, not sure what else could be said, since she didn't want to inadvertently upset him in any way.

"Yeah, I mean, Mum does mostly get it, but she hopes I'll change my mind," he said and rolled his eyes. Molly was still sort of hoping if he met the right girl or boy he'd change his mind. Charlie doubted it somehow.

He nodded his thanks to her sympathy. "I mean for my money you're doing a great job, and I hope you can keep expanding. I love hearing about other businesses being successful, well assuming I don't think they're shit in the first place!"

His smile was a little sad, but it was a good sort of nostalgia he was feeling. "It was amazing, and I miss it. I mean I'd be crazy not to, but I still know most of the people and I know they'd let me go visit if I wanted. I just can't do it safely full-time any more." He hadn't been back to visit yet, not since the month's trial he'd abandoned a week or so in. Between his leg and the fact he didn't quite trust himself so much any longer it wasn't going to work out. He wasn't quite ready for that yet.

"I'm sure she means well." Stacey shrugged as she said it - her own grandmother wasn't trying to be mean or hurtful, it was just that the concept didn't quite fit with the woman's world view.

Offering him a grin, she answered, "Well, thank you. I certainly hope to be around for a while! And yeah, it's nice to see other people being successful."

Nodding her understanding as she listened, Stacey commented, "That makes sense. I hope you'll be able to go sooner rather than later. Even if it's not quite in the capacity you were, it's better than nothing, I would think."

Stopping herself before she could ramble anymore, she moved to check out the ink on Charlie's leg, taking note of where the blood was beginning to congeal just a bit around the center. "Looking good," she muttered under her breath, relieved that things seemed to be going well so far.

"She does, and I don't mind. It's not like she's making an extra effort for me. All the kids get the settling down and having kids conversations and we all love her anyway!" He really didn't mind unless he was having an incredibly bad day. Frankly some of the others had it worse given they were already in relationships.

He nodded slightly, screwing up the now empty bag of nuts he'd munched his way through. "Yeah, I should get around to setting something up, but as my staff will tell you I'm awful about taking time off. The time I'm taking after this is going to be my first in... a while." He wasn't bothered by his lack of holidays really, he liked keeping busy. "I should owl someone though see if they've got something coming up I can slot in with."

His breath shifted deeper for a second and he spotted her looking at his leg. "Are we about ready to get back to it?" he asked, preparing to lie back down again so they could finish up. At least this time he'd be expecting his reaction and Stacey already knew it was just tattoo related.

"I'm ready if you are," Stacey answered with a grin, holding out her hand to take the empty bag so she could dispose of it for him. "But only when you're good to go, so feel to get comfortable."

She went through the process of preparing herself once again, washing her hands and snapping on a new pair of gloves, before settling down on her stool at the end of the table. They were actually a little more than halfway through, and she was thinking that it might take less time than she had originally thought to finish everything up.

"Just say when," she said, looking up to give Charlie a smile.

Charlie shifted around a little, getting comfortable as Stacey prepared herself and by the time she was actually asking if he was ready he was already in position.

"Yep, go for it," he said.

"The only disappointing thing about this is going to be the fact nobody much is going to see it," he said, peering slightly at what she was doing. "But I guess it's more for me than anyone else in the first place," he said. His other tattoos he'd happily show to people if they asked, but once this was healed and he was wearing his prosthetic again not only would it be massively awkward to show anyone it would also feel like a huge show of trust and possibly even intimacy. Not that he was ashamed of his stump, but most of the time he showed it was in some sort of home or medical setting and far less of the latter these days.

Buzzing the gun once to ensure that everything was still in working order, Stacey paused at his comment. "You'll know it's there, though, and that's the important part," she said with a soft smile. She did genuinely believe that, but then, she took a pretty philosophical outlook on tattoos in general and her work in particular. It was part of the reason for her rule about intoxication, because she didn't want to be part of someone else's bad decision, or worse, helping them do something they would come to regret.

It didn't take long for her to get lost in the ink and the gun in her hand, watching the artwork come to completion under her fingertips. In what seemed like no time at all, she was finishing the last block of color, wiping away the blood that she could and grinning as she moved to grab the gauze to cover the final piece.

"Now, I'm sure you're familiar with this, but since we're done with the actual tattooing, I've got to go over the aftercare process with you before I can let you walk out the door."

"True," Charlie said, genuinely reassured by those simple words. It really was for him after all. Claiming and reclaiming his leg as part of himself.

The second part of the tattooing sped by easily enough. Charlie tuned into the music and lay back, ignoring the reactions of his body and shifting as prompted so Stacey could reach some of the different areas of his leg. Once she was done he looked down and grinned. His very own multicoloured leg. It looked fantastic, bleeding bits and all.

"Yeah, I've heard it before, but it's been a while, so give me the lot," he said, making sure he was paying attention. He didn't point out that his walking would be more hopping on his crutches. No need to make Stacey awkward right now. He had a feeling he'd made a friend, between the tattooing, affinity for swearing, and the awkward erection that had turned out to be relatively not-awkward he was enjoying her company.

Charlie's grin made Stacey smile even more - it was always good to see that someone was happy with her work at the end of a session. Applying a thing layer of ointment over the area, she talked through the information as she worked on taping down the gauze.

"Leave this on for about the next six hours. Reapply ointment as needed, which tends to be whenever you start to get scaly looking or the skin feels dry. Be careful not to get it wet for a day or two, and pad it dry when you shower - don't run the towel across it or anything like that. If you've got any pain, take something that doesn't contain a blood thinner, since that will slow down the process. And don't scratch or pick at it once it starts to scab! It'll fall off on its own and picking it off before can cause irregularities in the ink."

By the time she was done talking, Charlie was done and ready to go, so she looked up at him as she clapped her hands together, grinning as she asked, "Any questions?"

It turned out that Charlie had actually remembered all of the information he needed to about caring for his new ink, but he listened quietly, watching with satisfaction as Stacey covered it up. It was still sore and a bit bloody and puffy right now, but it was going to look fantastic when it was all healed up.

He cocked his head as she finished up and thought for a second. "Nope, I think I'm good. Well, other than, could you open me the door when I'm ready to go? It'll be easier not to smack my stump than me trying to do it when I'm crutches," he said. He still needed to get his trousers back on, but it was a pretty straightforward once that was done. He didn't want to jostle his ink within ten minutes of it being finished after all.

"Awesome!" Stacey said. "If you think of anything, feel free to send me an owl or something through the journals." She nodded at the question, and said, "Sure thing! Take as much time as you need, I'll be out on the couch." A few minutes later she was holding the door for him, saying as he left, "Don't be a stranger!"
