Oh, dear sweet Rowena, that wink was going to do her in. Oliver was handsome, and that to a degree that had her wondering how unfair it was for other men to have a specimen such as him wondering the earth. That, however, wasn’t something she hadn’t been aware of before that first kiss. No, what really had started drawing her to him, what could really make her stomach do flip flops and her heart pound and make reasonably certain that she was falling for him, was everything she had seen since he agreed to let her get to know him. True, he was quite a goofball sometimes, but he was also kind and caring and sensitive, romantic, and he treated her with a tenderness and respect that was too rarely found this early in… Melinda smiled; she didn’t know where this was going, she had an idea and she was beginning to think that this something they had could grow to more and that she would very much like it to. Her teasing about him having blondes, plural, to take care of him, had been just that; teasing, a small joke, but she found herself more relieved than she had expected when he clarified who he was talking about. “Even big a big Quidditch man needs TLC sometimes,” she smiled at him.
Struggling a bit with the delicious, stringy cheese, Melinda chuckled as she nodded and tried to keep it from dripping onto her chin. “She did, and it’s alright. I just wish I’d known, then I could have saved her having to send the Owl,” she managed and almost crowed with delight when she managed a bite without making too much of a mess. She wiped her mouth and set her plate aside; she wasn’t particularly hungry but wasn’t completely done yet either. Oliver was trying to make light of what had happened, but it pained her to see the frustration of him having to potentially sit out the match this Saturday. “It’s still an injury,” she said softly and got out of her chair and went him. “You’re their star Keeper,” she continued, looking down to his hand as she took it and held it, palm to palm, with her own. “They want to be certain you won’t aggravate what happened to you today, and I…” Looking up at him she drew in a deep breath. “I’m sorry that you might not get to play on Saturday, I know it means a lot, but I’m also very glad that they’re looking out for you.”
