rp: a case of the Wednesdays
Who: Stacey and Aidan
What: An after work drink
Where: Finnigan's, Common Room bar
When: Wednesday, March 11; early evening
Rating: NSFW - Language (it's Stacey and her potty mouth.)

The only downside to being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays was that Wednesdays were the effective start of her week, and sometimes they were just exhausting. After an hour long discussion with a middle-aged wizard about an invisible tattoo, she'd thrown up her hands in frustration, turned things over to Meatball, and headed next door for a drink.

As much as she occasionally complained about being right next door to a bar and the number of inebriated individual she had to turn away because of it, it was rather convenient on days like today. Stacey sat down at the bar, ordered a beer and laid her head down on her arms, hoping that the counter might be able to drain away the stress of her day.

Aidan, who had been sitting at the bar drinking his usual ale, noticed people coming and going. He noticed the woman who had several tattoos come in and seem so exasperated. He didn't know her, but that's how friends were made, right?

"Erm... miss? Are you alright?" He wasn't sure exactly how to start this conversation, but he was concerned. Was she crying? Just upset? Had someone harassed her? Aidan was very much the type to defend people, especially women. He didn't tolerate men who beat women.

Lifting her head off the counter when she realized someone was speaking to her, Stacey offered the stranger a smile, albeit one that was a little weary. "I'm fine," she assured him. "Just had a really long day, and ended it by dealing with a really annoying customer."

Her beer arrived, and she grinned at the barkeeper before taking a sip. "Some people get a case of the Mondays, but since we're not open on Mondays, I apparently got a case of the Wednesdays," she said with a small grin, without any knowledge if this stranger would catch her reference. "I'm Stacey," she continued, offering her hand out to him - she found it strange to have conversations without at least knowing who she was talking to.

Aidan was grateful to hear that she hadn't been hurt. He couldn't help but laugh a little at her 'case of the Wednesdays'. He shook her hand, "I'm Aidan. Nice to meet you." Aidan hoped that she wasn't one of those people that upon hearing his name and connecting a name with his face would recognize who he was exactly. It seemed so conceited, but it happened more often than not. He enjoyed the support post-retirement, but he wasn't in the mood at that moment.

"Customer? Are you shop owner locally?"

"Nice to meet you, Aidan," she said as she shook his hand. She had never been much of a Quidditch fan, so she made no association with the name to anything other than the man offering it.

Stacey didn't bother holding back a laugh at the question. "Extremely local," she said with a grin. "My tattoo parlor is right next door." She waved vaguely in the direction of one of the walls, indicating which side of the building her shop was on.

Aidan looked surprised, he hadn't been expecting that. "Yeah, I'd say that would be extremely local. How was your customer annoying? Didn't like what they wanted?" he asked.

He had thought several times about getting a tattoo, but never settled on one, so talking to someone who actually ran a shop seemed interesting.

Stacey couldn't help rolling her eyes, though it was at the thought of the conversation shed so recently escaped from, not Aidan for asking. "He wanted to know if it was possible to have an invisible tattoo," she explained. "And then I started talking about black-light ink, but he had no earthly understanding of what I was trying to say, so we went in circles for about an hour." She paused to take a sip of her beer. "It was a rather frustrating conversation, so I figured I'd have a drink before heading home," she said, raising her glass slightly to indicate the drink in question.

He stopped to think about that. "What's the point of an invisible tattoo? Not including blacklight ones." Aidan paused again, "Never mind. I don't want to take you back to your frustrating conversation. How's your drink?"

"I don't have a fucking clue," Stacey answered honestly, shrugging her shoulders. "The entire point is to have the art you've chosen displayed on your skin. But of course, that's just my opinion." She chuckled a little as he changed the topic, and said, "It's fine. If I didn't bitch about it here, I probably would have ranted at Zacharias as soon as I got home." Lifting her glass towards him in an imitation of a toast, she said, "Delicious as always. And you? I'm assuming you've got something, rather than sitting at the bar just for the hell of it."

Aidan listened to her mini rant before nodding to her last question. "It's called Dragon Scale. It's... interesting. It's an ale. Among my favorites for everyday drinking." He picked up his glass and swirled it slightly. "It's actually got a sweet taste to it."
