Again, Bryony felt a welling of sadness that she'd never get to experience anything Marcus was talking about, but she quickly diverted her mind to other things. She was living away from home, she got to paint and learn from professional artists and she still had Marcus in her life - it was more than she'd expected when her father first announced that their engagement was off.
She lifted her broom until she was several feet above him, sensing that the difficult part of the conversation was over, and wanting to fly some more - to see if she could outdistance her own petty jealousy.
