Dean smiled, having seen similar displays. "I know the sort of thing you mean, I did some exercises like that during my apprenticeship, with Braith and I drawing or painting the same thing or person. Even if you have a similar style to others there's always something different you see."
He couldn't quite picture what she meant about the colours and the quilt, but he was happy to talk about the idea further. "I, well, I don't quite get what you mean, but I'd be happy to make an appointment with you. You could come to the building, bring your quilt and see some of my work and discuss it further. I, er, I don't really let people in my studio itself, but there's a meeting room we can use." He felt a bit awkward mentioning his studio being out of bounds, but apart from a few friends and Braith he mostly didn't like others in there. It was a space he considered safe and he didn't want to risk that.
"I, er, I probably have a card here somewhere, oh, just a moment," he said, glancing up from patting his pockets to see a man approaching the bar from where he'd been sat in a corner.
He served him quickly and wandered back over to Mandy. "Would you like another?" he asked, indicating her empty glass.
