Of Curry and Wine
Who: Roger and Cho

What: Friendly dinner

Where: Cho's flat in Monument Alley

When: Monday evening

Rating: SFW - may change depending on language

It was about seven o'clock in the evening when Roger finally found his way to Cho's door. Practice had run late, and he'd been slightly distracted by a certain fellow Chaser's hair, so he hadn't been paying as much attention as he possibly should have.

Since it was only Cho however, he'd simply gotten changed in the locker room, apparated across from a great magical Indian place they both liked, and and bought a bottle of red on the way to Cho's from there. It was for that reason, combined with the fact that he didn't want to frighten Sherlock the new kitten, that Roger knocked on the door instead of barging in like normal.

"Oi Chang, let me in! I come bearing Indian food and and wine!"

Cho grinned brightly at her friend's loud knocking. "Rog!" She shouted, nearly leaping into his arms when she'd let him in, but minding the food she held herself in check.

"Indian and wine is perfect, I knew I could trust you to get exactly what I needed." She sighed a happy exhalation and shut the door quickly so Sherlock wouldn't get out of the flat. He'd taken to pouncing on things and darting around her quickly, and had settled in rather quickly (not that she knew much about quickly cats settled into things).

Once he'd deposited his things on the counter in her small kitchen, she properly greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I was thinking a horribly cheesy movie and not moving from the couch for anything but maybe more wine?" She'd missed time just lounging with him. It was harder to come by in the Quidditch season and with her summer schedule packed with events to run, it really had felt longer than a few days since they'd talked. Of course, Cho always had Marietta and Melinda, but there were things she had just never felt really diving into with anyone but Roger and maybe Ben.

"Cho," he crowed delightedly, blowing her a kiss. "How've you been, lovie?"

He grinned, bowing florridly at her praise. "One does one's best, Madame. One does one's best." He quirked an eyebrow at the way she quickly shut the door, calling to mind a matador quickly removing all traces of red from their clothing upon realising that the bull they were meant to kill has brought six friends and an uzi. "What's the problem? Sherlock being a pain in the arse?"

He put the wine and food down on the bench and picked his friend up, swinging her around and hugging her. "Awww," he said with a grin. "I've missed you." His grin grew wider as she relayed her plan for the evening. "That sounds perfect!"

Casually, he flicked his wand and summoned a couple of plates and wine glasses, warming the plates with a charm. "So tell me, what's new?"

"Not a pain in the ass exactly, just a kitten," she shrugged, supposing they could be one and the same. "You sure you don't mind a romantic-comedy? I just need something fluffy I think," spending more and more of her time planning weddings had seemed to get to her.

Cho gladly accepted a glass of wine from him and made her way to her larger couch and sat down with a confused frown, tucking her feet beneath her and pulling a pillow to her lap. "Not much new, but I think I'm in a funk." She didn't know how to describe it, especially without sounding like a mental case.

Roger grinned indulgently at her. "For you, I'm in the mood for pretty much everything. Except porn," he added hastily. "Watching porn with you would be very weird." He ducked out of the way as she mimed slapping him.

Taking a sip of his own drink, he looked at her, his brow furrowed. "What kind of funk, love? What's wrong?"

"Watching with anyone would be weird for me," though she didn't really want to think about Roger watching porn with anyone either, and so nearly didn't miss when she made to hit him.

Cho stalled by starting the movie and indicating he should sit, too. "I don't know," she lied. It may be easier to admit these sort of things to Roger - or Ben - than the girls, but that didn't mean that it was at all actually easy.

Finally, the starter credits having finished and the movie on it's way, she sighed. "I miss him sometimes. I'm planning weddings all the time these days," her voice was small but her eyes didn't tear up - she'd stopped being that affected by it all after the war, but that didn't help the loneliness she felt anyway. "I guess, work and all, it's just making me feel lonely."

Roger snorted and poked her in the side. "Too prim for your own good, Chang," he said with a cheeky grin.

He looked at her for a long moment, an eyebrow cocked disbelievingly, however he was willing to wait for her to start talking, so he obligingly cuddled up to her and watched the start of the movie.

He turned to look at her, a wave of sadness overcoming him. It was brutally unfair on both Cho and Cedric that she would always hold him on a pedestal. "I know you do sweetie. I wish- He was a great person, I just wish you could see that you are too." He grinned apologetically. "Are you enjoying work though?"

Cho rolled her eyes at him but her mood changed quickly.

She half-heartedly nodded along with his conclusion. It wasn't a question of her self-esteem, if you asked her (though had she looked more deeply, she might have seen that Roger was partly right). "He was great, wasn't he? He was just... somehow better than all of us. I always thought the Goblet knew, that's why it picked him. He was more than his House or his family pressures or anything - he was just good for the sake of being good, you know? None of us live up to that... I'm not sure anyone really does." She shrugged again, admitting her fears.

When he asked about work she coked her a bit a in thought, "Yes. Well, for the most part. Happy brides and angry brides are both challenging in their own ways, I suppose, and there are other parties to throw besides weddings. Melinda and Carmen and Mum are all trying to convince me to expand. Get office space and the like, I just... I don't know if I can do it. I'd have to hiring more assistants and how can you trust someone else to run an event properly, you know?" To say Cho had control issues was probably an understatement, especially when it came to Charming Parties.

He nodded sadly and brought her in for a hug. "He was a great man yes, for all the reasons you say." He made a face for a moment, then kissed the top of her head before continuing, "But we both know he would be the first to tell you that everyone has the ability to be great."

He grinned wickedly at her. "But do you prefer Bridezillas or um, whatever pun can be made about happy brides?" He sat up to look at her properly, grinning hugely. "You should totally expand. Hell maybe I'd try and marry Marcus if you did, just to give you a huge project with lots of media attention."
