Alicia happily wrapped her arms around Adrian’s waist, resting her head against his shoulder as he held her. His words hadn’t come as a surprise, though they were still a welcomed relief to hear. “You have been as important a piece of my life as Daniel for a while, Adrian Pucey,” she said, leaning back just enough to look at him so he could see that she meant what she was saying. “I live in the house he bought me as a wedding gift, I work for the team his family owns, I am the co-founder of a foundation in his name, and I am the mother of his children. Daniel died and I’m not about to completely wipe him from my life, because that is just not possible, even if I wanted to. But I don’t need him to be a part of everything I do either. I want to…” She chuckled nervously, because she wasn’t sure she was explaining it properly. “I want to pick up where my life was put on hold, you know? And I’m hoping that you’ll want to be part of that, too.”
Holding up the envelope for him, she smirked. “This wasn’t always my dream, but when I had to give up one dream, I didn’t want to do this half-arsed.” She glanced at the envelope. “Open it for me, please?” she asked him. “I’ll read it, just… open it?”
