Adrian heard Alicia let herself into the flat and called out that he was in his potions room. The spare bedroom he'd converted was actually the larger of the two in the flat, but it worked best for him to have more space there than to sleep in.

When she settled onto his bench he moved across the room from where he'd been sniffing at small cauldrons and moved to stand between her legs and give her a kiss in greeting. Then he looked more closely at what she was holding and stepped back just a bit, nodding. "Why are you scared?" He asked, leaning in to kiss her again quickly, softly, so she would know she could be honest with him whatever her reasons.
