Cormac woke a little after 2 in the morning. The moonlight shone through his bedroom window and illuminated Lavender sleeping peacefully on her side next to him. He'd never been much for cuddling, or sticking around even, after his one night stands over the years, but he'd quickly grown accustomed to curling up next to her, throwing his arms around her perfect body, and falling into a heavy sleep with her small body there all night. Now, he just watched her, leaning down to kiss her exposed shoulder lightly. She'd come by after work, he had made dinner for them and they'd shared a bottle of cheap wine.

There was something already so comforting to him about the two of them together, but still new and adventurous, too. He smiled and rolled onto his back, maybe in the hope that his movement would wake her and she could join in on his musings.
