RP: A Walk in the Park
Who: Rolf and one of Tina’s kids

What: a walk to the park

Where: Memorial Alley up to the park

When: Saturday January 25, afternoon

Rating: SFW

Rolf led the two half-grown Labradors down the street. A chocolate and a black, they were rambunctious but were slowly learning manners as he worked with them every day, sometimes during busier hours, sometimes when virtually no one else was around. He’d started out in the expanded space inside his building, but he had to socialize them, especially now that they were getting larger.

They’d be very good pets, he thought, but puppies at their size could intimidate if they didn’t have some training already. Plus they loved people, and he wanted them to keep doing that while not overwhelming the world. They were learning commands when they wanted to, and today they were behaving decently, only dragging him toward the park every now and again. They kept heading that way, Rolf making them stay at a nice, sedate pace.

Well. As sedate as puppies would ever be, anyway.

"No, no, I'm sorry. They're still learning, and I've been trying to keep them out of the way," Rolf apologized, keeping the leashes shorter, the harnesses keeping from pulling at their throats.

He tugged gently at the leashes, watching as their butts wiggled with the strength of how hard their tails were wagging. "Sit, sit," he commanded firmly. He had to press firmly on one of the butts to make it go down. The wiggling persisted.

"No, I think they're all right," he said wryly, grinning slightly. "They're also dying to jump on you, for which I apologize as well. They're still young."

"Learning?" Cho asked, she'd never realized puppies had to learn anything. Then again, she'd never had a pet dog, only her kitten Sherlock, and kittens didn't get trained, they just sort of existed. "They're quite good looking," she added, leaning down to pet the one on the left on the head. "What are their names?" She asked, getting fairly aggressively licked on her hand as she said it.

She laughed when he said they were dying to jump on her and stood back up, "I'm sure I'd survive if they did," she said, "how old are they?" Thinking to herself she wondered what Mel would say if she thought about getting a puppy, and of course how Sherlock would react. She looked at him again, "I'm so sorry, I'm Cho Chang." And she put out her hand in proper greeting.

"Yes, teaching them their commands, how to behave in public. Socializing them so they won't be little terrors when they grow up to be big, strong dogs," he said, smiling. "Right now, they're called Houdini and Blackstone." He gestured at each respectively and they did spare him a glance when they heard their names. "If they're adopted, of course their new companions might rename them."

"They're a bit over seven months old and every bit as enthusiastic as that age entails," he said, lips twisting somewhat ruefully.

"Oh, Miss Chang! My grandmother speaks quite highly of you and your party planning skills," he said, shuffling the leashes to one hand and extending his other. "I'm Rolf Scamander, Porpentina Scamander's grandson. You planned our fundraiser." He'd never had the chance to check in -- to be honest, his grandmother had monopolized the planning in spite of his grandfather's intentions. Even at her old age, she refused to let go of her traditional role in things.

"Oh but they seem so sweet already," she remarked, wondering how such nice puppies would ever grow up to be 'little terrors'. Smiling at their names, she nodded, "Oh I quite like that. Houdini and Blackstone, quite appropriate," she leaned down and pretended to introduce herself to each of them before standing and introducing herself to him.

"Oh yes! Poppy is a delightful woman! Your family's fundraiser every year is a highlight for me," she said honestly. Porpentina was very trusting but also knew exactly what she wanted and communicated as such - Cho's best kind of client, if she were honest. "I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to meet you at the party," this was also honest - he was clearly very nice and obviously very good looking. She wondered for a moment why he'd never been among the wizards her mother had tried setting her up with over the years. Her mind went briefly to Fin and how much she missed him, how curious she still was about him, but she covered her wandering thoughts quickly with a smile and directed her attention back to Rolf.

"They are sweet. But ill-mannered animals have a way of being destructive, and I discourage that. They'll be quite a bit bigger and it won't be hard to accidentally knock things off a table, after all." He grinned at the compliment. "They were always getting out of their boxes even when smaller, so I thought they worked quite well."

He waved the hand not holding the leashes. "No, no apologies needed. I meant to track you down, but I ended up having quite a bit on my hands with it, it being my first time directing the flow and all." It had been successful, though he still wished a few things for it. There was always next year though. "But you're meeting me now. It's very nice to meet you at last as well. "But thank you for all your excellent planning. Nothing would have gone well without all of it and the ambiance you created."
