Marcus' first reaction was to freeze and escape from this conversation, his own fear briefly threatening to choke him. Pushing past that, he kept his eyes on Roger, even as the other man looked around the empty stadium and then got even closer. "That's... good," he managed to say, barely more than a whisper.

It was impossible not to smile back at Roger, though his own was smaller and almost shy. His next words were possibly the most difficult to speak, even including the awful night he'd gotten the Mark, but Marcus said quietly, "I've been in love with you for years."
