RP: Bourbon, because why not.
Who: Chris + OPEN
What: Chris is at Finnigan's late on a Saturday night
Where: Finnigan's Pub
When: Saturday 17th January
Rating: SFW, I'd assume

Chris felt like a indulging in a good strong drink tonight, because why not. He'd thrown on his leather jacket and even conceded a scarf (because London gave Boston a run for its money this time of year) and had apparated to Monument Alley from the house in the city. He cracked to a magical stop outside the pub and rubbed his hands together, hurrying into the warmth of the bar.

He took a stool at the bar, surprised to see one still open at 11 at night on a Saturday, but he was glad for it and so didn't bother asking the neighboring customers if anyone else had taken it. He gave the bartender a nod and what some people might call a smile and ordered a double, neat.

Dora's week had, to be quite frank, completely sucked. She'd been so good over the holidays. She'd only had the occasional glass of alcohol, she hadn't gotten more than tipsy, it had been a good time.

But between the moron who'd accosted her the other morning, and her brother being an utter arse just a few hours ago, well... it was terribly easy to backslide under that kind of pressure. She'd told herself she was only going to have a couple of drinks, but she was drinking to forget how miserable she felt and everything going on, and two drinks didn't cut it. She'd already passed the point where she'd be able to Apparate home, and she had a feeling that in a few hours the barkeeper would be owling Tristan or whoever was on the top of her contact list these days to come pick her up. That, or maybe she'd just get a room for the night somewhere.

She swirled her glass of Firewhiskey, definitely drunk but not wasted quite yet. She'd thrown on a robe over her lounge clothes she'd accosted Hyperion in, and made sure it was long sleeved even though she was hot with all the alcohol she'd already consumed.

She really wouldn't be able to stand it if someone else spit on her right now, and she was probably too drunk to keep herself from beating them senseless.

She signaled the bar for another glass and downed half of hers in a couple of gulps.

Chris heard a familiar voice from a couple of seats down the bar. "Dora?" He asked, leaning around the two gentlemen that separated them. She looked good, but she also looked... Wrecked. Well, maybe not wrecked, but certainly on her way to it.

Chris stood with his drink and moved down, asking the two wizards to move down a seat so he could sit next to her. "What's got you drinking Firewhiskey alone on a Saturday night? And from the looks of it, a lot of Firewhiskey?" He gave her an arched eyebrow and sarcastic smile.

She looked up, somewhat bemused -- or was it amused, she never could remember exactly what bemused meant. "Chris! Hello!" she said almost brightly, turning slightly and lounging back against the bar, glass still in hand, remarkably steady for the amount of alcohol she'd consumed so far. She probably shouldn't be pleased to see him when she was on her way to getting wasted, but right now she didn't really care. She felt warm and better than she'd felt all week, though that wasn't quite saying much. Though she had dinner with Mils in the cards.

She leaned over and gave him a one-armed hug, pressing her lips lightly to his cheek. "Be nice, I'm drunk," she told him solemnly, patting his cheek carefully and focusing so she wouldn't start tracing that sharp eyebrow with a finger. "Not as drunk as I could be, but I'm pretty sure I'm a bit over the tipsy line." Her accent was heavier than normal, for she wasn't watching her words like normal.

"Oh, my week sucked," she told him frankly, taking another sip and regarding him over the top of her glass. "Really sucked. Massively. So I thought I should reward m'self with a drink. And a drink turned into drinks. Poof! Magic." She grinned, suppressing a faint giggle. Yeah, okay, not sober.

"A bit over, you say? I can work with that," he nudged her shoulder with his own and then shrugged out of his leather jacket, leaving him in his scarf and a black t-shirt. "Why such a bad week? Who do I have to hex?" Chris liked Dora, and and he didn't like... well, anyone, really, so he couldn't understand why anyone would cause her annoyance. Especially to the point of ruining her whole week.

Rather than sip his drink like he'd planned when he arrived, he took it down in two big gulps and ordered another round for both of them, "This round's on me," he said, as the bartender put new glasses in front of both of them. "No one should have to be tipsy alone," he said, giving her another bright smile.

Dora watched him as he took off his jacket, her head tilted slightly to one side. She still remembered what he looked like without a shirt, from that day in the spa. She tugged her eyes back up to his lips, reading them as much as listening to him in the noise of the bar. "Hmm. Bigots spitting in m'coffee." She shrugged, speaking matter-of-factly as if it happened every day. At one point, it practically had. "Clients complaining at work. My brother being a right arse. Take yer pick, my week sucked."

She grinned, reaching out to tweak his scarf and play with one end. For a pureblood, she was relatively affectionate, even in public and with people who weren't necessarily her closest friends. However, with alcohol in her, she might not be huggy-lovey with the world but it definitely had an effect. "And here I was gonna offer to buy ye a round," she said. "Y'beat me to it." She liked his smile; it was bright and sharp, and she liked bright sharp things. "So what brings ye t'the bar?" she asked after she'd emptied her original glass.

Chris liked the way Dora watched him - he'd never been a particular shy wizard after all. But when she mentioned what had ruined her week, his attention sharpened. "Bigots? Spitting in your coffee? What the hell are you talking about, Dora?"

He was suddenly glad for the new drink and again swiped it from the bar and took it down quickly, getting the bartender's attention before he'd moved more than a couple of yards back down the bar. "Another for me, and do me a favor and keep them coming before I get bored and decide to break some barista's fingers."

"I came here tonight because I was bored but I'm suddenly happy for it," he said, turning back to her and waiting with twitching fingers for his new glass.

She shrugged again, a lazy and more carefree move than she actually felt, even with as much alcohol as she'd consumed. "The war left me with a lot of enemies," was all she said, picking up her new drink and taking a generous gulp of it. She didn't want him to hate her too, especially not when she'd been so glad to see him just a few minutes ago. She wasn't sure her week could take that, too.

"Now don't be hurryin' on my account," Dora drawled lightly, bumping her foot against his leg, but she was grinning, amused by his threat. She didn't see him following through on it, not in the way she generally followed through on her own threats, but it was amusing to see a Hufflepuff acting like that.

She took another sip of her drink and slid it into his twitchy fingers before they could make her antsy. "Well, darling, I'm very glad I could make you happy. Pretty sure it's the first time someone's said that to me in quite a while." Maybe an exaggeration, maybe not; Tristan and Richard tended to be the only ones happy to see her. Mils, too. But it felt like it after this week.

"The war...?" He asked, but when she seemed so intent on not discussing it, he nodded and gave her a concerned look before letting her change the subject. She was even smiling. "I won't hurry anywhere, you're stuck with me, but you know on another occasion you're going to tell me all about this, right?"

She gave him her drink and he smirked at her, "Thank you," he took a polite sip of the firewhiskey before his third drink was brought to him and he returned the glass to her. "And why is that the first time someone's sad that to you in a bit? Every time I see you, you make me happy." He leaned in, sure by now his breath smelled like bourbon, but not worried. "Do I cheer you up when you see me?" he asked, giving her a mischevious smile, like they were the only ones in the room.

For a moment, Dora's attention was much more on the weave of his scarf than the conversation, but then he let it slide and her eyes, her Lestrange eyes, she couldn't help thinking, went back up to his face. "Mmm, yeah, I'll tell you another time. Rather not ruin my week absolutely, yeah?" Because she had no idea how he'd react, this Hufflepuff who had left during the war and did all sorts of charity work. She'd done bad things, horrible things, and had even enjoyed some of it.

"I'm not a very good person, you know," she told him in a confidential tone, taking another sip of firewhiskey. "I'm not always welcome everywhere. Big bad Slytherin, don'tchaknow." She smirked at her words, for she definitely wasn't very big. But the image was amusing.

"Oh, of course you do, darling. And you know it," she said, giving another suppressed giggle and leaning in toward him a little more. "And you definitely cheered me up tonight, drinking here all alone here and then bam, there you are!"

His concern grew when she talked about herself so negatively... He hadn't been here for the war, he didn't know what children had been through during it. He had run away. But he couldn't imagine this sweet quiet woman being bad. Chris was an ass, sure, but to consider herself such a bad person really worried him.

When she giggled at him though and seemed to really just want to cheer up, Chris did something a little reckless - his favorite kind of thing to do, if her were honest. He leaned in the one more inch that separated them and brushed his lips against hers. When he leaned back again, quickly - not wanting to scare her by deepening the kiss, though her lips were soft - he said, "I happen to like the person you are, just so you know."

It was short, but it was the first kiss she'd had in a very long time. At least that she could remember. She had the bad habit of putting herself in unfortunate situations, though she'd worked hard on that the last few years. It should probably concern her that it was while she was drinking, but it was so sweet that she really didn't care.

Dora gave him a slow, lazy smile, still leaning in toward him. She'd wondered for a long time now if he liked her like that, or if he just thought of her as a friend. It was an unusual confusion for her, who had always known where she stood with the men she'd gone out with; the pureblood life they'd grown up with had always given her guidance. "Well, I like you too, just so you know," she said, ignoring the voice in her head that said he wouldn't like her if he really knew who she was. Instead of thinking on it, she leaned in and kissed him light and quick like he had her.

This time she had kissed him. His smile grew and his whole body moved toward her a bit more, on his stool. Their faces were close, as if they were having a secret conversation, and he wondered if anyone in the bar might notice but didn't care.

"So tell me, how's your week looking now? Any better?" He asked, his hand moving across the bar, away from his drink, towards hers to softly stroke her fingers.

He watched his hand for a moment before looking back at her face, his gaze focusing on her lips. They were soft and a little hesitant and he liked that. He wondered what they would feel like pressed hard against his.

Dora didn't pay any attention to anyone else at the moment. When her energies were focussed like that, on whatever or whoever, it was often like that for her. She felt goosepimples up her arms, under her robe, as his fingers stroked her hand.

"Hm, a little better," she said teasingly, flirtatiously, holding her fingers a bit apart. There was a joke in there somewhere about kissing it all better, but she'd never been terribly bold when it came to flirting.

"A little better?" He asked, looking mock offended, "is that all?"

This time when the bartender came over he waved him away.

"I think we can do better than a little," he continued, "I think I'd like to kiss you again," he nodded. And then she nodded, and he crossed the space between them once more and kissed her more slowly this time. His tongue ran gently across her bottom lip, and his free hand came to rest on her neck, in her hair.

Her lips turned into a faint smirk, and she widened the gap between her fingers a little more. "Is that better?" she teased, her regular restraint as such things, or worries, tempered by enough alcohol to make her feel more comfortable, though she'd always felt comfortable with him, for whatever reason she couldn't readily discern.

She nodded her assent, leaning into him lightly as he kissed her. One arm slipped around his shoulder and neck. She followed his lead in this, though in most other things she was the headstrong stubborn one. She sighed softly against his lips and then parted hers at his urging. It was almost overwhelming, it had been so long, and even longer since it was someone she really cared about. In a way, it was scary, but she wasn't paying attention tot hat right now, just focussing on the feel of his lips against hers, kissing him back slowly, feeling it as warmth spreading slowly.

Chris puffed out a laugh at her response and nodded, "a little" he said.

When she opened her mouth to his, his temperature began to rise and he took her invitation, deepening the kiss. All thoughts of who might be in the bar or who might have ruined her week flew out of his mind.

Breaking the kiss, a little suddenly, he smiled at her - his charming smile - feeling bad as he remembered that she'd had an awful week and was already tipsy when he'd arrived. "I'm sorry," he started, "Well, not about kissing you, but about the timing. I don't mean to take advantage of a bad mood and a strong drink." He explained. He sat back a little, giving them both some space, as he willed his heart to calm its racing.

Dora's fingers combed through the hair at the back of his neck, slowly and languidly. She felt warm more from the kiss than from the alcohol, and she blinkd almost owlishly when he pulled back a little abruptly. Her hand trailed down his shoulder and arm as he leaned back, and her lips went unconsciously into a faint pout.

"You're not taking advantage," she assured him. "I'm not that far gone." She'd know, too, she thought, having had enough experience with self medication with alcohol. "And my mood is much improved, especially if I don't think about the bad stuff." Like her fucking arsehole brother.

Her fingers traced aimless patterns on his forearm, but her attention was all on him. "If I'd had a few more it'd be a different story," she conceded with a faint nod. "But I'm steady 'nough." If overly warm. She was tempted to go down to her tank, but she was also very aware she hadn't glamoured her arm earlier either.

"Overly warm? You're very overly dressed for this sort of pub, I'd say. Just come from a fancy dinner or something?" He asked, laughed, fingering the fabric of her robe near her knee, where their legs touched.

"And as for taking advantage, my mother would kill me if I were to do more than see you home and kiss you goodnight this evening, but I would like to do both tonight if you'll let me, when we leave that is."

"I'm a bit warm," she did admit, fanning her face with her free hand. She smirked briefly. "Which is probably your fault," she added in a sweet tone, eyes crinkled faintly in amusement. "But I don't think a Muggle tank top and yoga pants is quite pub attire either." She fingered the sleeve of her left arm unconsciously, her attention on where he was touching.

"Well, your mum does have a good point, and far be it for me t'naysay it." Gentlemen outside of the formality of her usual circles weren't nearlt so many. "Though I wouldn't complain for more than one kiss before then." She grinned again, though she was also nervous at being bold. The drink did help that. "Gentlemen are so hard to come by anymore."
