Sleepover

Harry had felt much better after his walk with Roger, and had left to pick up Teddy in high spirits. He'd have to remember to thank the other man for being such a good distraction. Teddy had been in high spirits too, excited as always to have a sleepover with Uncle Harry. Andromeda had sent them each on their way with a kiss, and no comment on what she was planning for the evening. Harry hoped it had something to do with adults her own age; Andromeda spent most of her time with Teddy and deserved a night out now and then.

"Whatta we gonna do, Harry? Can we go to the cinemas?" Teddy asked once they'd Floo'd through to Harry and Hermione's flat. Harry, as always, was covered with soot but Teddy had managed to escape the same fate. A quick spell later, and Harry was soot-free once again. Teddy was still staring up at him expectantly, hair shifting from blue to orange to pink before settling back on blue. His face though was all Remus, and always gave Harry a little jolt.

"Actually, I thought we could have a camp out in the living room!"

This pronouncement caused Teddy to clap his hands, and his hair to run through the rainbow in his excitement. This time it settling on a shocking neon pink, nearly glowing with happiness. "Can we have a campfire and everything?"

One good thing about magic, Harry thought, was that he could give in to these little requests without hurting anything. "With a campfire and everything," he agreed. He'd already set up a tent, thanking Hermione silently for her patience, and had shoved all the furniture out of the way. In the center of the room was the promised campfire, and the ceiling was charmed to look like the night sky.

"Wow! This is so cool!" Teddy jumped around the room, checking everything out and making sure his stuffed hippogriff had a seat of honor around the campfire. Harry made a note to fireproof it before lighting the fire, just in case. "Is Mione gonna camp out too?"

Since Harry wasn't sure where Hermione was, he couldn't promise. "Maybe. We'll ask her when she gets home. Now, what should we do first?"

Hermione left the office with her bag full of work that needed to be completed over the weekend. Her boss was overworking himself on a case that was due before the Wizengamot sometime in the next week and he didn't know whether they would call as early as Monday or wait until Friday. However, there were other cases that needed attention. It was these she had gathered up to finalize.

Unfortunately she had completely forgotten that Harry was slated to have Teddy for the weekend. When she pushed the door open and saw the tent she let out a groan. To make it even worse before the door closed the young child climbed out of the tent and ran up to her and wrapped his arms around her legs. "Mione will you camp with us?" he looked up with pleading eyes.

Kneeling down so that she was on his level she properly returned the hug. "I'm sorry, Teddy. I have a lot of work to do this weekend. Can I join you for sweets in a little while?"

Teddy pouted only for a minute, then brightened at the mention of sweets. "We're gonna have marshmallows and sausages and chocolate bananas!" He bounced around the room, and caused the cat to go running.

Harry laughed. "Not at the same time, and we can wait for you," he said to Hermione. He felt a little guilty that he hadn't okayed the campfire idea with her first, but didn't think she minded overly much. "Need help with any of that?"

Teddy was amusing himself by trying to get the cat out from under the couch, so Harry shoved to his feet and headed over to Hermione. "Sorry about the mess."

Hermione watched as Harry's cat took off under the couch. That reminded her that Crookshanks hadn't greeted her when she came in. That could only mean that he'd taken up under her bed in order to escape Teddy. That cranky cat never did have much patience for noise, Ron, or anyone under the age of fourteen.

"No worries. I've got a desk in my room. You boys have fun and let me know if you need anything." She walked over and hung her robe on the hook by the kitchen before heading back to her room. "I'll check on you guys before I go to bed and if you're still up maybe we can tell stories."

Teddy had finally coaxed Buttons (a named bestowed on the veteran alley cat turned homebody by Teddy himself) out from the couch, and was teasing him with a bit of string. It was enough to keep him occupied for a minute, so Harry could catch up with Hermione.

"Thanks, Hermione," Harry said, giving her a grin as she hung her up robe. "Did you eat at the office? I have some left over Thai in the kitchen. It's from...uh, yesterday? I think? It shouldn't have gone over anyway." Harry was respectable in the kitchen, for the most part, but he rarely had time to do more than fry up eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Hermione's face scrunched up at the thought of day old food. She was particular about left overs. If they weren't eaten within twenty-four hours she believed they ought to be placed in the disposal. "I'll look to see what we have that I can prepare," she stated as her mind immediately began to sort through the items that were currently resting in the icebox.

"Have the two of you had dinner?"

"Leave the leftovers for Ron then. He'll eat anything," Harry said, laughing a little when she scrunched her face. He'd momentarily forgotten about her distaste for leftovers.

He nodded. "Yeah, we ate with Andromeda. I think she wanted to make sure Teddy got one last serving of vegetables before the weekend. I don't think she trusts me to put green things on his plate."

At his name Teddy came bouncing back over, this time with Harry's cat at his heels. Buttons usually only needed a few minutes to warm up to Teddy, and this was no exception. "Can we have the fire now? Buttons wants marshmallows."

	"I think that's my cue to exit," she gave Teddy a slight smile. She'd never really been one for imagination as logic was typically the order of the day. Add to that the fact that she was tempted to begin a lecture as to why cats shouldn't eat marshmallows and she knew it was time to go. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
