“Uhm…” Rose managed, desperately searching for a good explanation and all the while wondering why it was that she suddenly couldn’t think of a good answer when quips and half-truths usually lay right on the tip of her tongue just waiting to be launched. Of course, Dennis had asked two questions, the latter of which was easily answered; “Since… this… afternoon?” she tried, because she had bought them before she had come home, so that much was true.
Seeing the candles in a circle like this, though, looked a little wrong, so gently she nudged them back into a line and set the first lit candle a little off to the side to make it stand out. “You seem in a good mood,” she tried to deflect, turning back to face him, the dreidel clutched tightly in her hand.
