Roger laughed and wriggled his eyebrows. "I could listen to you talk about Quidditch all day," she said with a wink. "But you're right, as usual, the offence always seems to get riled up and play stronger with the 'Pies when the defence lets them down. I know it happened last time we played them."
He quirked his lips to one side, shooting Marcus an extra potent version of what Melinda called Half-Smile No. 5. "Lucky lad, a nice relaxing day is exactly what the healer ordered the day before match-day," he leaned forward slightly, his expression growing wicked. "I wonder, did you follow Fitzpatrick's advice and uh, how did he put it 'physically relieve yourself in a singular, private fashion' like he suggested last week?"
He watched Marcus' expression soften slightly at the mention of the book he'd mentioned at training. Roger made a point of actually listening to what people said to him, and it never failed to interest him how much people seemed to appreciate this seemingly trivial act. Or indeed, how easy it became to put all the half-truths and lies people told together and divine what exactly they were trying to hide. Not that Marcus was in the habit of lying of course - reason number twenty-three on the list of awesome traits. "I love that you love reading you know," he said at last, nodding earnestly. "I understand not getting back to it for a while, I can never concentrate after a game - I'm always totally riled up and, uh..." he trailed off, deciding against mentioning what he, or rather who he usually felt like doing after a game. Chastising himself internally, he smirked and changed tacts, "Tired you know? I'd guess you are too, yeah?"
He cocked his head and looked into space for a few moments, biting his lip absently as he ran through the team's various stratagems. "I think we've got a pretty good chance actually. Podd and Moore are on fire with their bats at the moment, the seekers are top notch, and well," he paused and winked at Marcus. "You're scoring like an absolute champion. The Bat's do have an excellent offensive side, and I'm a bit worried about Moran's arms in the keeper's square, but I think we'll pull through. What do you think?"
