Journal - Christmas is heading this way
And I have very much to do, it feels like, before it gets here. Tradition has always been important to my family, even when we had little enough to share.

I find I will miss the koledari coming by the house. Things are not the same here, though I know there are carolers.

I am inviting my family here, though, even if I do not know who all will be able to get away for several days. Now that we have all technically grown up, family seems much more scattered.

And I have to finish shopping for the children, of course. Tsveta will not be too hard, I think, but Misha? I know he might not remember this Christmas, being so young, but that does not let me slack off for him. We will see. I will have to make time for shopping the next couple of weeks.

Koledari are carollers, but they are different a little than typical English? Not by much, I suppose. But there are traditional well wishing songs in Bulgaria, especially in the smaller villages in towns, and I grew up in such a place.

I don't have a lot of personal experiences with English carolers, but I like the sound of koledari! I can only imagine they're really enjoyable to hear.

I have always enjoyed it. I'm sure there might be some good carollers, but it is not quite the same.

Maybe you and you family can bring your tradition here. I'm sure lots of people would enjoy learning about the koledari and possibly participating, such as in a gathering in the park in Monument Alley. I know it wouldn't be the same, but it could be nice for all of you.
