Open Mic
Who: Lucy and Bryn
What: Open mic night
Where: Finnigan's
When: Friday evening
Rating: SFW

After her short shopping trip and grabbing a bite to eat, Lucy had stuck to her original plan of popping in to Finnigan's. She hadn't promised Bryn she would, and she didn't really think he'd notice whether she did or not but she'd enjoyed her date with him and now that she wasn't feeling ill anymore she thought she'd enjoy seeing him again.

It being Friday, she'd dressed down for work in jeans and a funky t-shirt with trainers. Not what most girls would wear to see a guy they thought was cute, but as far as Lucy was concerned anyone who'd deem her 'not good enough' in her t-shirt and jeans wasn't worth the effort. She hadn't got the impression Bryn was the kind, anyway. Inside Finnigan's, she fetched herself a drink from the bar, nodding along to the music and keeping an eye out for Bryn. She found him standing near the stage and slipped into the space beside him. "Hey you," she said, grinning. "Didn't miss your set, did I?"

Even though he had finished work a few hours earlier, there was no way Bryn was going to head home when it was open mic night. Besides, he'd likely end up home alone. If Ben wasn't working, he'd probably be here at the pub anyway; Bryn hadn't thought to check his schedule and the idea had only just occurred to him when Lucy appeared beside him.

"Hey," he said, smiling and a little surprised that she had actually here. A good surprise, he decided, tugging his jumper straight. "No, not yet. About ten minutes 'til I'm up, probably."

Bryn's movement drew Lucy's attention to his jumper and she stifled a chuckle. She really didn't think he was going to have any problem with her zebra t-shirt. She didn't quite know him well enough to tease him yet, though, he might take it the wrong way and think she didn't find the jumper strangely endearing. "I'm just in time then," she said, taking a sip of her drink.

"Do you need to be 'in the zone' or anything?" she asked, making air quotes with her fingers in the appropriate place. "I can sit down until you're done."

"Yeah, looks like it." Bryn shoved his hands in his pockets, rocking back on his heels. There was one more performed before him, a witch was a ukulele who was just finishing tuning. He'd seen her on stage before and he was pretty sure that last time she had sung something quite twee and perky about her pet cat. That or she was a master of innuendo. It was hard to tell.

He chuckled, a little embarrassed. "No, it's alright. Never been that sort of person. So, uh, how are you? You had a bit of a cold, right?" Bryn was sure he'd read that somewhere.

Lucy kept her voice down, not wanting to disturb either the woman performing or anyone who might be listening to her. "Yeah, I did." She was a little taken aback that he'd remembered - she still wasn't quite used to the whole journal thing and had mostly been viewing it as a way to communicate with her friends. "Some pepperup pretty much got rid of it, though, so I've been well. Just doing a little Christmas shopping." She shrugged, raising her obviously empty hands. "Or window shopping, as it turned out. Christmas shopping on Diagon Alley turned out to be a little overwhelming."

She glanced around the room, no Christmas decorations yet but she supposed it was still early. "Do you have plans for Christmas?"

"That's good." Having a cold was rotten enough at the best of times, but Muggles didn't really have any decent treatments. Luckily, pepper-up could work wonders.

Bryn shrugged. "Probably just visiting family, maybe a party with my flatmates. Haven't even started thinking about shopping yet."
