Evening
Who: Greg and OPEN
What: Random encounter?
Where: Finnigan's
When: Friday evening
Rating: SFW unless I update

Most evenings, Greg went straight home after work - he was too tired from his frankly energetic workplace to feel in the mood for anything else - but tonight the four walls of his small flat had felt claustrophobic and he had ventured out to Finnigan's for a pint. He'd been here a few times now, mostly with Marcus but sometimes on his own. He'd tried the food and found it passed his unexacting standards but it cost money, which he'd rather not spend. But George had paid him today, and he'd been to Gringotts to take enough money out for the evening.

He started his night at the bar, thinking that he could always move to a table if he decided to get food. Finnigan's was quite busy, but not so much so that there weren't still seats available. He drink his first pint quickly and ordered another, his brows furrowed as he read over the menu. There were several options he'd never heard of, with descriptions that didn't help clarify the issue any. Giving up, he looked up and around to see if anyone he knew was in tonight.

Blaise's work week had dragged on forever. The recent norm had been for him to get the assignment for the club he'd be visiting on Thrusday so he could tak his time on Friday to travel for the meeting with the club on Saturday. Unfortunately, there had been some argument over which of the clubs in Germany he was going to see. It had been a toss up between Munich and Berlin until just before he left the office. Thankfully, Germany wasn't too far of a trip and it could easily be taken care of in one day so he didn't need to leave until the morning.

Needing a mental break before heading home to pack, Blaise opted to head to Finnigan's rather than go right home. Deciding he rather walk in, he went to one of the apparation points in the Ministry and popped into the park in Monument Alley. As he made the swift trip he debated whether he ought to sit and eat or order something to go. Finally he came to the conclusion that he would allow whether or not he found suitable company among the patrons to be the determining factor.

Moments later he pushed the door to the pub open and headed toward the bar. When he got there he looked to his right and then to his left. A few stools down there was a familiar fact he'd not had the opportunity to socialize with in quite a while. "Gregory Goyle," he leaned against the bar so he could look at his friend. "It's been entirely too long since we drank together."

"Blaise," Greg said, smiling. He wasn't really the kind of person who enjoyed talking to strangers, so if he hadn't found anyone he knew he'd have been content to sit alone. However, given his recent and unfamiliar isolation at home, he wasn't going to turn down company. "How are you?"

There was an empty stool next to Greg, but also a free table within his line of sight. So Greg got straight down to the important question. "Are you here to eat? We could get a table."

If Blaise had taken the time to think about it he might have realized that now that they were all out from under the stresses of the impending war that his group of friends smiled more than they ever really had in school. That of course didn't make things necessarily easier but they were more bearable in general. "Generally speaking things are going well." He took up the drink he'd ordered as it was placed before him and took a nice drink.

"I was planning on grabbing a bite to eat," Blaise turned his body toward the nearby table. "Dining here in your company sounds a bit better than take out at the flat." He reached over and grabbed two menus from where they were stacked on the bar and held one out toward his friend.

Greg nodded and stood, taking the menu - not that the handheld version was likely to be any better to the chalkboard behind the bar, in terms of Greg's actual understanding of it. "You eat here much?" Maybe Blaise could recommend something, and then it wouldn't matter that Greg didn't know what 'fajitas' were, or 'tostadas'. If all else failed, there was a burger section of the menu that Greg was pretty sure he couldn't go wrong with.

As they sat, Greg glanced around again, just so he knew who was around him. Being as big as he was, he had a habit of accidentally barrelling into people and he liked to keep it to a minimum, if he could.

"Not too often, but you usually can't go wrong if you choose one of the chicken dishes." If there was one thing Blaise had learned in his travels it was that just about everywhere had at least one chicken dish and it was typically well done. Each dish was usually unique and allowed him to explore the local flavors.

Once they were settled and he'd decided what he would order when the time came Blaise put the menu down and focused on his friend. "Do tell, how's the job coming along?" He didn't want to put words in Greg's mouth but he doubted working for Weasley was a grand affair.
