"Thanks." Dora knew she was a workaholic. This didn't bother her overly much, as she'd always had a tendency towards it, and right now as long as she kept up with everything with Rich and spent time with Tristan -- time that always pleased her -- she didn't mind working especially hard in order to keep her demons at bay. She even managed other time to socialise at times, as seen by her whatever-it-was with Chris that she had going on.

She grinned lopsidedly, not quite a smirk though her sharp featured face tended towards those whether she wanted them or not. "Oh, I know, and I would never push, as curious as I do get sometimes." Curiosity had always been one of her traits and downfalls, but she also knew what lines not to cross. "So long as it's going well, that's all that matters. Dora laughed very softly. "Good luck with that. Warding against cats seems to be something that the world has been trying to do ever since the first time a person took in a cat," she said dryly. "Or so I'm told, I've never really put much effort into it. I've never had a cat."

It just hadn't been a thing, somehow, growing up. She did think sometimes it would be nice to have a pet, but then she worried if she'd be able to take good care of it or not. After all, some days it was hard enough to remember to take proper care of herself.

"Busy?" she said. This was far from an unusual answer from her. "Between the shop and everything else, I've been busy. My cousin Tristan -- he's around here somewhere --" she craned her head, trying to spot her tall, thin bestie, "he's living with me, which is great."

"Mostly, I'm just trying to think about how to make it safe for both the decorations and the cats." Which mostly involved trying to make sure the cats didn't try to climb the tree or knock things over. Their stubby little legs weren't the best for climbing, he'd found, but they still seemed happy to try to get into things despite their stunted stature. He shrugged a little, not wanting to monopolise the conversation, especially not about his cats. He didn't want to be that wizard who talked about his cats all the time or anything else just as mental.

"Oh, are you getting lots of end of the year orders?" He suspected that was a good thing to not working in retail. "Or is it just a lot of other things going on there?" Even if he was glad not to be in any kind of retail business, he was still interested in what she had to say about it. And he was also sincere when he said, "I'm glad that's a great thing." And not just because living with someone else could be tricky but because living alone could also be tricky.

Dora tilted her head, regarding him intently. "Maybe a repelling charm on the tree, and unbreakable charms on the ornaments?" she suggested. "Orrrrr, if the repelling charm doesn't work, maybe something to make it too smooth to climb, and sticking charms on the ornaments to keep them from falling off?" She hoped, belatedly, that he wasn't offended at her suggestions.

"End of year orders, commissions, et cetera," she said, waving her hand. "Plus keeping the store stocked, in general, and assessing anything new that's acquired from estate sales and the like. Luckily I'm not the one trying to assess the other vendors we work with right now, or else I don't know when I'd sleep." Not that hse slept a lot, honestly, but even a few hours here or there were good to have. She flashed him a smile. "Thanks."

Zacharias nodded as he listened to her suggestions. They were things he'd thought about before, but he'd thought he'd likely need to modify them. The one saving grace to all of it, however, was that he didn't have a lot of Christmas decorations. Christmas was a fine enough holiday, and he put up some things here and there, but he didn't get into it the same way others did. He did have a tree, which was something, a few items he thought were nice but entirely at the mercy of nosy kittens if they managed to get up high enough to knock them over, as well as other festive items to put up. But his Christmas decoration collection could all fit into one box. Admittedly, that box had been charmed to fit it all in one box but not by that much.

"That sounds like a lot of things to keep you busy," he said of what all she had to do with the shop.It secretly made him glad he didn't work in a shop, even if he had his own hands full with various undertakings at work. "But I'd think you enjoy it, yeah? Otherwise you wouldn't do it." Especially since she also published articles on the subject. To him, that meant she had far more talent and knowledge to absolutely need to work in a shop, even with what she'd told him. Maybe the Ministry wouldn't consider hiring her, but he doubted others were as stupid. Besides, it wasn't like working in a shop paid so well. So he reasoned she couldn't entirely hate it. But, he'd been wrong a lot in his young life, and this could just be another tick mark in that column for him.

"It's not unenjoyable," she said, and shrugged. "I mean, sometimes if you get a lot of repetitive stuff, it can get boring for a bit, but it keeps me pretty sharp and it gives me a top of the line work room to work in, and some of the custom orders can get pretty amazing." If sometimes over the top. But that was what money could get you. "So I get to play with all sorts of things, keep myself sharp and worked out, and have a good work space. If I have to deal with customers sometimes, well, I guess that's a price to pay."

There was a reason Pandora wasn't put in the front of the shop often, though. In part because of her well known history, in part because when she was in a mood it just really wasn't the best idea. But she could be good at it when she wanted to be.

"Besides, it's my aunt's shop. Family is important too."
