I'm going to pre-empt this by saying "I'm not getting arrested or going to jail or anything."

But does anyone know anyone who's studied law? I'm reading this stuff and it might as well be Mandarin.

I have the chance to get Rhys for two weekends a month instead of just one. They call it joint custody. I have a better chance of getting it now that I'm clean, but I don't know if I'm really ready. Parenting is really hard. And I'm not even that sure I'm doing a good job. In fact, I'm relatively sure I'm not.

	Well, I can read Mandarin and know my way around contract law if that's any help. Not a lawyer, though. I can check with the company legal staff and see if anybody has any pro bono time open. Parenting... no help at all there. My own skills run more along the daft uncle line. Don't they have classes for that sort of thing somewhere? Checked with the Fawley Foundation? Oh by the way - I realize now that I haven't caught up with everyone I knew at Hogwarts, even in my own house. Sorry bout that. Here's the super short version of the story: I left school after fifth year to have a kid. He turns eight in a couple weeks and I get another custody hearing. If I've cleaned up my act enough, I get him two weekends a month. ~~if I don't, I could lose~~

I have lawyers. Well, Julian has lawyers and I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to borrow his lawyers. They're on retainer, after all. Might as well get paid for something, right? I'll just steal one of them for you and you can ask him questions?

It is hard, love, but you can do it. And if you sometimes need someone to keep company with you, well, I'm around. Plus you'll get better with practice.

Well, literally half of my mother's Muggle family work either for the family law firm, with a few more working for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Clifford Chance - which let me tell you, debates are a family sport - and they all love me, so I'm pretty damn sure if I sent you to one of them they'd help you out pro bono? If you're interested let me know. It might help to get a Muggle lawyer to look at it but I'm not sure.

	~~Who are you?~~ If you weren't doing a good job, they wouldn't be considering allowing you joint custody. They would be doing the opposite. But no, they are considering it. If your kid is healthy, sheltered, clothed, fed, safe, and happy, you're doing a good job. (Reply to this)
