What: Trying out the pool

Where: Susan's new (and otherwise empty) house - technically the Mews house

Susan apparated underneath the external stairs of her new house, glad for the cover of darkness to hide her from any spying eyes. As she hadn't yet moved into the house, she hadn't had time to erect any more than the basic (if still blatantly excessive) wards she placed around any domicile she inhabited as a matter of course. This of course meant that the usual Muggle repelling charms that would have allowed her to apparate in the middle of her yard had she wanted to weren't in place. Shrugging off the oversight, Susan walked quickly across the lawn between the main house and the Mews, and unlocked the door to the garage. Now, thanks to the wonders of magic it had been expanded to four times its original size to allow Susan to keep the garage and add a pool room.

She stepped into the pool room and looked up at the ceiling, bewitched to resemble a glass rooftop showing the sky. Smiling to herself, she sat down in one of the deck chairs and began to examine the various spells on the room - spells to keep the water arceptic and healthy, spells to carry away any linger smells, and of course the spells to make the room look like it was in a glass house rather than a garage. She was so distracted she nearly missed the knock on the door. She started at the sound, and then grinned, leaping up and rushing to answer the door. "Well hello hello, fancy a swim then," she asked, gesturing to the water behind her. "Also I thought we could order some sort of food and beverage?"

Dean shifted from foot to foot, knowing he was at the right house because of the tickle of magic against his skin, but still not quite sure what to expect. Well, other than Susan and that her new house was likely going to make him boggle even more than her old one did.

When she opened the door he grinned at her and bent to kiss her on the cheek. "Hey, Susan. And I would love to swim. Brought my trunks and everything. Food's good too. I came straight from the studio. Might end up going back there too. I'm running short on time to complete everything. All the magical stuff has to be finished in a week so it's dry for the charm work."

He looked properly at the room then and his jaw dropped. "Holy shit. Thank Merlin for magical buildings," he said, stalled just inside the door, staring around. His first real experience of bafflingly re-sized inner proportions had been the tents Seamus' family had taken to the World Cup, and that had been a long time ago now, but it still tended to pull him up short when he came across it.

Seamus had checked (and double checked...) with Susan that it would only be the three of them. Once she'd promised that there was no chance of Edgar or Ophelia, Seamus had agreed to come see the new pool. Though he'd come round the house with Susan before she'd bought it, that had been before the pool existed, so he wasn't quite sure what to expect. Hopefully there'd be somewhere to change into the swimming shorts he'd brought. If not, it wouldn't be the first time either Susan or Dean had seen him getting changed. The shorts were long enough that they covered the portion of the scar on his leg, leaving just the section across his stomach, hip and back visible.

"Hey," he responded, giving Susan a quick kiss on the cheek as he entered - then spotting that Dean was already there and giving him a wave. "Hey, Dean! Wow, this looks amazing..." He'd loved swimming, once, but after the war there'd been no where he could go. Even if he hadn't been concerned about the scar personally, there was no muggle way to explain it and wizards weren't exactly big on public swimming pools - despite the fact they'd be able to fit them into much smaller spaces than muggles could do. He was looking forward to making use of Susan's pool as a semi-regular thing... Or at least, he thought he was.

He shouldered the bag he'd brought containing swimming shorts, towel and not a great deal else. "Is there somewhere I can change or should I whip my kit off right here?" He grinned, trying to make a joke of it even though ever since Dennis had seen the scar he was feeling less comfortable with it than ever. "Mam would approve of the food idea, and the beverage as long as it's soft. She's been nagging that I'm losing weight." Which, as would likely be apparent to one as observant as Susan when he got his swimming shorts on, he had, though he was putting on a show of being unconvinced by maternal concerns.

Susan smiled winsomely at Dean, and stepped aside to let him into the room. "You've definitely come to the right place if you want a swim," she confirmed, before poking him gently in the side. "And yes, trunks are good, and so is eating. I see I'm going to have to force feed you to put some bloody meat on your bones," she said, shaking her head. His reaction to the pool however, soon brought a smile back to her face and she nodded graciously. "I know right? There has to be some benefits to being a wizard."

She turned around as Seamus knocked on the door. "Hey you," she replied with a little smile, kissing him on both cheeks. She watched him greet Dean, smiling slightly at the more relaxed way they were interacting, which was much more like the old days. She looked back at Seamus and pursed her lips thoughtfully. "There's a little change room just off to the side," she replied, pointing with her chin, before looking back at him critically. "You are losing weight Seamus, maybe I'll go ahead and order three pizzas."

"But first," she said, looking at both of them with a mischievous smile, before slipping her dress off to reveal a dark blue bathing suit underneath. "I think it's time I jump in the water, don't you?" She made a loud whooping sound and ran across the few metres to the edge of the pool, and dived in in a single fluid motion. "Well," she said, once she'd resurfaced. "What are you two waiting for?"

Dean grinned and waved right back at Seamus when he arrived, glad that he'd come along to their impromptu little pool party.

"See," he said as he wandered over to one of the deck chairs to strip off his bag, coat and shoes and let Seamus use the changing space first. "We don't even need to visit one of our mothers to be told we're looking thin. Just visit your friendly local Auror and you get force fed pizza!" he said, amused. He blew a kiss to Susan to show her he was joking. He pulled his usual boardshorts out of his bag and looked briefly between Seamus and Susan before shrugging and turning away from them to strip and pull his shorts on. Seamus had been seeing him naked since they were eleven and he knew Susan wouldn't care apart from possibly a stupid wolf whistle or something.

He made sure they were tied tightly and turned back, looking at Susan in the pool. "Nice suit," he said trying not to feel too self conscious and walked over and down the steps. He could dive into a pool but generally he didn't bother because the pool he was used to going to was far to shallow at the near end to dive into. He dunked himself under the water and upended himself and swam the length of the pool, spending over half of it under the water before popping up and doing a practised front crawl to the far end.

Seamus rolled his eyes - though he couldn't object to being forcefed pizza, if he was honest. He glanced away as Dean started to strip, but his gaze kept stealing back, restless - as if staring into the pool was too bright for his eyes. When he spotted Dean's shorts he snorted. "We have known each other entirely too long." Since Dean hadn't bothered with the changing area, and since only his best friends were here, Seamus felt it would be somehow cowardly to skulk off himself. He stepped out of his jeans and boxers first before turning to model the similarly-coloured and styled shorts. "Swimming twins." Well, apart from the height difference and the skin colour, of course. He looked at Susan and gave a fuller laugh. "Triplets. Apparently blue is the fashionable colour for swimsuits of all kinds."

He pulled his t-shirt off and threw himself almost immediately into the water, feeling less exposed when he came up spluttering with the water up to his neck. Susan's pool had an actual deep end but Seamus was off his feet far earlier than Dean would be. "Finally, an advantage to being short." He turned to watch as Dean streaked past him, his stroke far more graceful than anything Seamus could manage. He could swim well enough not to drown, but his technique wasn't exactly pretty to look at.

"You should have one of those inflatable balls or something, Susie," he announced. "We could have a game of... something."

Susan rolled her eyes and blew a kiss back at Dean. "Just be happy that I haven't fallen into one of my manic episodes where I force feed the two of you and my brother copious amounts of food in some sort of biological imperative to fatten up my menfolk." She glanced away respectfully as soon as she caught sight of Dean's bare arse. She was supremely unbothered by nudity but she respected that her friends weren't always as liberal as she was. She looked back at the two of them and rolled her eyes and laughed. "Entirely too long," she agreed happily. "Blue's a nice colour for swimsuits though."

She snorted at Seamus' comment as Dean began to glide through the pool. "It is a nice depth," she agreed, moving over to him with an elegant breaststroke. "I figure why have a pool that's too shallow to not drown the occasional assailant in right," she quipped, reaching Seamus and giving him a watery hug.

"There's balls in the change room I think," she replied vaguely. "Do you want me to go and get one?"

"Blue is a pretty standard colour for swimsuits," Dean said with a bit of a shrug. It had been a colour most of the lines he had looked at when he had first been buying an up to date suit at his therapist's suggestion he take up swimming as part of his treatment. Plus his version was both ppractical and inexpensive.

Doing a rather slower sculling stroke to get back to them he smiled. " You think everything should be a weapon option. If you could keep it away from when I'm planning to use it that would be awesomeawesome!" Having seen the pool he was now pretty sure he was going to give up using the Muggle public pool and use Susan's instead.

"I could go for a game. And,Seamus? The other advantage is not smacking your head on pesky low beams. Plus great things come in small packages. Look at you two!" It was entirely possible he might get splashed or dunked for that comment, but he didn't care.

After giving Susan a one-armed hug back, Seamus kicked out so he was lying on his back, staring up at the ceiling. "I can't be losing weight," he argued, even though he knew he was. "Between you lot, mam and Romeo in the kitchen I'm pretty sure I'm eating more than my three square meals a day." Well, that was a downright lie. Seamus never really bothered with breakfast, and it was pretty rare that he remembered lunch - but that wasn't the point. If he packed away food at night, he ought to stay more or less the same weight.

He brought himself upright again when Dean neared - just in time to flick water at the back of his neck. "Oi." There was no real heat in the objection — after all, what was wrong with being a 'great thing', even if he did come in a small package? He grinned and splashed Dean again before hastily doggy-paddling his way to the side of the pool. "Nothing wrong with my package." The joke was too easy not to make, and he hauled himself out before anyone could retaliate. "Think I'll go get that ball now," he said, glancing over his shoulder to make sure no one was following.

He was back a few moments later, though he did stop at the entrance to the changing area and made a show of looking around for ambushers. Then he chucked one ball into the pool and carried the other one over, keeping hold of it as he slid back into the water.

Susan rolled her eyes and looked at Seamus pointedly. "Seamus, only eating dinner does not three meals a day make," she said, shaking her head and looking heavenward. "But yes, blue and red are fairly standard colours for swimwear. Just be glad I didn't wear my bikini, I'd own you both."

Susan blinked at Dean in a manner of exaggerated shock for several moments. "But Dean, dear... everthing can be a weapon, you just have to work hard at it sometimes." She watched Seamus and Dean engage in round number seven hundred and eighty four of their homoerotic foreplay and managed not to roll her eyes at them, though she did pretend to drown herself at Seamus' mention of his package. "You do that," Susan called after him before looking at Dean. "Are we going to let him get away with that?"

"Thanks dear," she said, moving over to the ball at a sedate speed. "What game are we going to play?"

Dean shook the water out of his face, blowing out the bit that had splashed into his mouth. "Oi!" he called at Seamus' retreating back. "Pretty sure Justin's making sure it's in working order," he joked, glancing briefly at the area in question with a waggle of his eyebrows and a feeling that makes him shift his arms restlessly. He splashes at Seamus' retreating back in a way that is never going to connect and rolls his eyes.

"No, he's not getting away with it. I'll splash him when he gets back. I'd dunk him but I can probably hold my breath longer," he said quietly with a shrug. He didn't want to harm Seamus, or yank his shorts down, but splashing seemed fair game.

Dean glanced between the two balls his friends held and shrugged. "Dunno what to play," he said, "I mean there's always Marco Polo but that defeats the point of grabbing the balls. Piggy in the middle type thing?" He suddenly launched himself at Seamus who had got near enough, throwing up a huge wave of water by stretching out his arms and hands and forcing it to splash up.

Seamus ignored Dean's comment about Justin - it wasn't untrue, but they were here to swim, not to talk about his sex life. When Susan moved over, he pushed the ball across the water towards her - just in time for Dean to make a sudden lunge and douse Seamus in water. He wasn't quick enough to avoid it entirely, but he managed to duck under the surface of the pool and kick his way to safety. He emerged a few seconds later on the other side of Susan - using her shamelessly as a shield against further attacks.

"Treachery!" He complained, glaring at Dean. "Save me, Susan. Isn't that your job, protecting defenceless, honest business owners from menaces?" Obviously, he expected Susan's response to be to turn around and splash him herself. Or maybe to splash Dean. She could be unpredictable like that. He took another few steps back, into shallower water where he could stand up with the water coming to his waist. "Piggy in the middle sounds good, but you," he started, pointing at Dean over his shoulder, "have to go stand in the deep end. Otherwise it's not fair." He shifted to point at Susan this time. "And you can start in the middle, because as soon as I get in there I'll be stuck for the rest of the game." It was true he had an inch of height on Susan, but neither her Auror reflexes nor her swimming skills. He hadn't been in the water for years. It wasn't something you forgot, but he had a feeling Susan could outpace and outdistance him easily.

Susan snicked and nodded at Dean. "Sounds like a plan to me," she said approvingly, already planning to splash them both for being lovesick idiots. Or rather 'not'-lovesick idiots. She knew that the ability to think in italics made her a person who was in need of being watched, preferably from a safe distance - but such was a perk of being an Auror.

She looked at Seamus for a moment, and then at Dean. "Hmmm, it is but I'm off the clock," she said, sending simultaneous waves of water at both of the men with sudden fervor. "Ugh I'm always in the middle," she said with a pout, already moving to the middle of the pool. His words left her feeling slightly chagrined and she silently vowed to try and get Seamus out of the middle at least a couple of times. Once she was in position she looked at them each in turn. "Well, what are we waiting for," she asked, already coiling herself up for a giant leap.

Dean was almost expecting the wave of water from Susan when it came and managed to close his eyes and mouth just about in time. He shook his head and smacked his lips slightly, getting rid of the tiny amount of water which had managed to make its way into his mouth. At least that was preferable to getting it in his eyes. He had goggles for when he went to swim laps but hadn't bothered to bring them for messing about with friends which was clearly a mistake.

"Fine, fine," he said, conceding the point that his height would give him an advantage in the shallower end of the pool. He launched himself backwards into the deep end. He couldn't actually stand in the deep and began to tread water waiting for Seamus to launch the ball. If he was going to come here regularly he might make the effort to start diving in more often.

Still holding the ball, Seamus hadn't been able to duck in time and so Susan's wave of water hit him square in the chest. As he was already drenched, he just laughed and made a show of 'hiding' behind the ball. "Can't get me!" he taunted, then immediately launched the ball towards Dean, flying far over Susan's head. Susan and Dean might have the advantage of being fitter, but Dean and Seamus had been playing football and quidditch and variations of catch together for years. They had the advantage of knowing one another's moves.

Dean watched Seamus get into position and the almost sudden launch of the ball. It was thankfully flying pretty much directly for him, albeit with a pretty steep arc over Susan's head. He adjusted slightly with some quick moves and caught it with few problems. He was pretty sure Susan would be headed for him, and his inability to launch off the bottom of the pool meant he couldn't really push into his throw, but he'd been a decent chaser and aimed back at Seamus, planning the ball just beyond him. It should only take a step or two and he'd be incredibly impressed if Susan could manage to make that particular gain. Familiarity with your friends' moves was an advantage and disadvantage as far as this sort of game went.

Susan watched the ball soar over her and sourely thought that the boys would probably engage in the whole Jedi meld of theirs to anticipate one another's moves. Of course, she could anticipate their moves as well, but she was hit by a sudden and deliciously evil idea. When Dean threw the ball back, she merely watched it, turning around to face Seamus and grinning. "Oops I seem to have missed," she commented calmly. "Well go on Seamus, don't keep Dean waiting."
