While Ernie wasn't the most enthusiastic flyer himself, he appreciated how much others loved to do it. "There were a few who were jealous of your prize. It was nice you got to keep the broom, though. I bet it flies like a dream."
For a moment, the band on stage actually seemed to get their harmonies right. Unfortunately, it lasted just a moment before the cello and bagpipes hit notes that were too discordant with one another, causing Ernie to wince hard.
"Oh, Mum's good," he smiled. "Trying to fix me and Dad again, but still good. If I didn't keep insisting that she did a good enough job teaching me to cook, I'd have an icebox full of leftovers and pudding. If you're ever going hungry, let me know and I'll send her and her food your way."
