"Yeah," Seamus agreed with false brightness. "Of course she did." It was stupid, to resent Susan for taking care of Dean when he'd been busy or unavailable. But Seamus seemed to be doing a lot of stupid things, lately. "I think I need a holiday," he muttered to himself as he finished off his soup. He knew it was an unrealistic hope until after Christmas at the earliest, but it was still tempting. "Even just a couple of days might help me get my head on straight. Self-care, right?" Seamus hadn't been doing a lot of that lately, rather spreading himself thin between work and checking up on Dean and seeing Justin nearly every week. He'd never have dreamed it possible to be so unrelaxed when he was having regular sex.
Foregoing the healthy bread-cheese-fruit options, Seamus moved straight for the chocolate frogs once he'd finished his soup, tossing one at Dean as well. "I'll make sure I'm not working that night," he promised. "Or that afternoon... how early is 'early' for opening night? And do I need to drag my formal robes out of whatever chest mam packed them in? The moths have probably eaten them by now." In his line of work, Seamus didn't have a lot of call for formal robes, or formal muggle clothes for that matter. Even the jeans he was wearing tonight had frayed hems and a hole on one shin. These were details he should probably already know - but somehow they'd been crowded out of his mind by a hundred other things. It was a bit like studying for OWLs all over again.
"Either way, it'll be another chance for me to meet Ophelia." His mind went back to her presence in Dean's life like a tongue going back to a wobbly tooth. This time he'd have no bar to hide behind, no customers to keep him busy. She might be busy, of course, but if Seamus was going to be there for more than just one night (and he'd probably turn up on the muggle-friendly days when Dean's family did, maybe with Graeme or Neill in tow) then there was bound to be some time for them to talk. "I promise not to tell her about the time you tripped over your own dress robes practicing and I had to take you to Madame Pomfrey before the Yule Ball."
Seamus genuinely could be charming - either when he was relaxed or when he bother to put his mind to it - and since he didn't really want to the reason Dean and Ophelia didn't work out, he would have to put his mind to it this time.
