Ernie turned when he heard Theodore's voice and smiled. He nervously stuffed his hands into his pockets, feeling out of his depth. Usually on dates, he flirted a lot, injecting innuendo into much of what he said, and tried to make his date laugh as much as possible, all the while trying to be at his most charming. That wasn't going to work here, he knew. He could be charming and friendly, maybe even try to get Theodore to laugh, but anything else might scare the other man off. Yet despite himself, he thought of it as a challenge.
"Hey," he replied. "Just on time. But then, how could you resist a dinner with a handsome healer." He bit his bottom lip, waiting to see what Theodore's reaction would be to that bit of humour - it would help him decide whether he should tone himself down or not.
"You look nice," he offered with a soft smile, appreciating how nicely the particular shade of green looked on his friend.
