As long as he danced with Penelope and Lucy together, Percy didn't have to worry about steps or being graceful. He could simply follow their lead and enjoy the moment. Lucy's face was overjoyed that he had joined them, and Penelope... her fingers curled over his, prompting a traitorous ball of sensation in his stomach to awaken and remind him of its existence. Despite the voice inside him that said he should let go and save his sanity, he ignored it this once to warmly hold her fingers back.
The music changed and Lucy frowned, suddenly letting go of both Percy and Penelope's hands. "I don't like this one," she said as she went to the turntable and started moving the needle. The music changed again, but where Percy expected Lucy to come back and join them, she instead ran to get the parchment and quill that Percy had put down. "There, and it's your turn now. I'll score you, Daddy and Aunt Penny!"
Percy shook his head incredulously. Sometimes it amazed him that she was his daughter, rather than one of his siblings'. He looked to Penelope and gently squeezed the hand he still held. "Are you willing to risk stepped-on toes, Aunt Penny?" Though perhaps there had been a time when he hadn't been as clumsy on his feet, a time Penelope knew better than almost anyone.
