RP: Dancing!
Who: Pandora and Blaise

What: Dancing!

Where: Wingbeat

When: Evening Thursday 30 October (BACKDATED with apologies!)

Rating: SFW for now

Pandora had set aside Thursday night for dancing and catching up with Blaise. It had been a while since they’d done more than chat in passing or owl or chat in the journals, and so she dressed in a green variation of the dress she’d worn when she’d met Wayne. The skirt still flared nicely for dancing, and the Transfiguration was holding nicely. She wasn’t sure, despite having access to more money now, that she’d completely get past her recent years of being short on coin and making some things look fabulous purely with her own skill.

She’d added a few matching green streaks in her hair and kept her make up subtle but matching as well. Her heels would put her not quite as short as normal, but he’d still be rather taller than her with his six foot frame. She didn’t mind.

She twirled several times and let her feet do the fancy footwork as she slid back into place in the frame of his arms. She grinned brightly up at him, pleased.

Blaise was thoroughly enjoying the evening. It had been awhile since he and Pandora had spent any sort of quality time together. Dressed in a pale green button down with a black vest he had made quick work of meeting up with her at the appointed time and heading off to a night of frivolous fun.

It was a bit ironic that here they were dancing the night away in proper step in a place that couldn't be much farther away culturally than the way they had grown up. In just a few short years their world had turned from proper locations and proper company to just about anything goes. There where times when Blaise missed the certainty those days had forecasted. Still, he didn't believe he would give up the freedom their slow demise was laying before him.

"With moves like that I'm surprised you aren't married off yet," he smiled at her knowing full well that he'd assisted in tarnishing the purity of her virtue years ago.

Dora had wanted to see what Wingbeat was about since it opened, but she'd honestly not had the time to do so at this point. Rather, she'd not made the time yet. She'd spent most all her spare time working and adding a room to her place and working some more lately.

It was more different than she'd thought. She'd never been one to really do the clubs on the continent, and none of them had been this sort, really. She wasn't as boggled as she would have been once, but it did take some getting used to. She stuck with the dancing she was comfortable with, taking her lead from Blaise.

She snorted softly, eyes flicking up to his. "Darling, you well know I have several big marks against me in most books." The word mark was used deliberately but evenly. "Not that my aunt doesn't still try very hard to marry me off." She didn't overly care that her 'virtue' was tarnished; her mother never had either. But she had other, bigger blots on her name that the fact she wasn't a virgin.

Blaise hadn't realized the theme of the evening when he'd mentioned Wingbeat to Pandora for the night. Not that it really mattered. She had all his attention which allowed him to focus away from all the overwhelming stimuli that the night brought. In fact he was enjoying his hold on tradition when everything around him was a blight on the face of the expectations that had been forced upon most of them.

"I can't think of anyone who got through without some sort of mark against them," he pulled her close and began to process of a slow turn to the right. Sure, the biggest blight he had was the fact that he worked for one of the lamest sub-departments in the Ministry. Still, he found it off putting that people who just a few simple years ago had championed the cause of dark now acted as if those who had done as expected were unworthy.

Pandora was somewhat aware that tonight, at least, they stuck out a little, and not just for their dancing. She'd only recently been given some terms for what the night was for, not that she hadn't known that all went on, at least to an extent. None of it bothered her; after all, her brother liked both genders, and though it was far from common knowledge, she'd shared a couple of experimental kisses and not been repulsed, though it'd never gone beyond that.

Though having a whole special night for it seemed a little odd to her, but aside from the weird looks for being with a guy and dancing old school, no one had said anything yet.

Her hand slid farther up his shoulder as she followed his lead, toes flicking slightly in show. "You know society is hypocritical to the extreme," she murmured just loudly enough to be heard. "Besides, some marks can only be hidden short term. And besides, everyone knows I'm nutters," she said, eyes glinting at him through her lashes.

Blaise was still trying to figure out the Muggleborn rules that had been added to their society. That was all he could spare the energy to focus on. Thankfully no one really cared one way or the other what he did or didn't do. Blaise liked it that way. No one to answer to, but that also meant he had no one to pay attention to him for more than one evening at a time. Something that was getting old rather quickly. Not that he would ever openly admit to it.

"Not everyone," he said leaning in a little. "From where I stand you're one of the sanest people around." There weren't many people that he held close enough to his heart to allow them in, Pandora was one of them.

Dora flashed a lopsided grin that almost seemed a smirk unless you knew her. She laughed sodtly and shook her head, hair swaying slightly. "I'm pretty sure I am a little crazy," she confessed in an amused tone. Truth was, she was, just a bit. But she kept herself on a tight leash.

She smiled warmly at him though. She'd always been very fond of Blaise. "You've just not seen me upset or anything in a long time." She reined it in as severely as she could most days, kept herself too busy to think much. And heavens forbid if people heard her nightmares and night terrors. That was something she'd worry about later, though, depending she supposed on if Chris kept courting her, or whatever you called the Muggleborn equivalent.

Blaise didn't doubt that Pandora has a bit of insanity to her whenever she chose to let it out. In fact, most of those Blaise would actually consider a friend weren't considered the cream of the crop by the newer standards. Still, many of them had found a way to exist within the current framework of society.

"If you ever need to cut loose or go off I'm your man," Blaise offered knowing full well he could handle whatever she might need to throw at someone to let off a little steam.

She gave Blaise a genuine smile and leaned in impulsively to press a kiss to his cheek. "Well, I'm dancing with you, aren't I?" she asked rhetorically. "Though I'll save the hexing for my dueling practices." Blaise would be good, she was sure, but she'd only gotten better and meaner with her dueling these last weeks, and more inventive in ways to put Richard on the defensive when she could. She might still be learning the sword, but magical dueling had been her baby since she apprenticed Filius.

"And I'll definitely keep that in mind. Things have been chaotic lately so I've been trying to get out more." Though perhaps part of the chaos was that she was getting out more. But chaos had always been a part of her, controlled as it always had to be.

Blaise graciously accepted the small peck to his cheek. He hadn't had much time to attend the dueling club as of late. It was something he needed to remedy. "Have you been to the group at Finnigan's?" he inquired. "I've been a few times and it has always been a rather interesting experience." He didn't quite know how to describe any of the situations in particular. Blaise simply felt the mixture of individuals from varied backgrounds and experience levels made for something a bit entertaining.

For a few moments he focused solely on the music and how they moved together. Finally he spoke again. "I would have thought that that with wrapping up your internship things would have calmed down a little."

"I've watched a few times," she admitted. "But I'm a bit afraid I'd hurt someone and then get jumped if I participated. I get a little... vicious when I duel." Which was probably the kindest way of putting it. She almost always dueled to win, unless she was teaching. "People tend to overreact when a former Death Eater hurts someone with a spell, still." Her words were very dry.

She lifted a shoulder and kept following his lead. "I took up another one, so to speak," she said. "Sort of dueling, sort of security work. Plus the shop is busier than ever."

It pained Blaise to hear the way Pandora spoke. It was only a simple stroke of fate that had kept him from being fully committed to the cause. In fact, were he not a coward who had run back into the school when the opportunity arose he may have completed deeds that were the same caliber as hers. "Ignore the lot of them. Most of them are self righteous fools who think more highly of themselves than they are worth."

He couldn't help but keep his eyes on her as they danced. Even when she spoke words that might have had another feeling dejected he marveled at how well she held herself. "Really?" he inquired as the music slowed to a stop. "And where is this new apprenticeship?"

"If only it were that easy," she said, her smile just this side of wistful. It was more than she would show a lot of people, but Blaise was a good friend, and she'd known him even longer than the war. She could trust him, she thought, with some of these confessions.

She grinned at him as the music stopped, and she slipped her hand into the crook of his arm. "Buy you a drink?" she offered, tilting her head toward the bar. "It's through International Exports Ltd, for all the security work and such." Which was true. Richard was paying her stipend through that and she thought the lease was through them as well. "I have to admit, it has me fitter than ever," she told him. It could be seen by a skilled eye, but she tended toward wiry muscle that didn't show like bulkier muscle.

Blaise knew it was easier to ignore somethings than it was others. He'd also been fortunate enough that his general demeanor was to let just about everything roll off his back unless it was a point blank, full on assault.

"It's I who should be buying you a drink," he argued as they made their way toward the bar. True enough this wasn't a date, but that didn't mean he had to allow proper manners to fly out the window. "Sounds like you're making your way up in the world," he grinned as she talked about her new job. "Might even get you out from under your aunt."

Dora laughed softly. She should have expected the argument from him. "Fine. This time, if you insist," she said, giving in with good grace. In the past, she never would have offered -- but her means had been so limited up until just recently that she couldn't have afforded it. But she'd hidden the worst of her past problems from the world, unless someone had cared to dig deep.

"I'm still an ambitious lass," she said with her usual quick grin. That had never changed. The amount of work she was required to put into life was all that had changed. "I'm trying, though I do love the job. I just don't love that it's all I do sometimes, or dealing with her all the time." Though without the distraction and busyness, Dora knew she'd be at too many loose ends. She used it all to keep herself on a line, controlled and structured so she didn't go too far off track.
