RP: Happy Birthday, Dennis!
Who: Rose, Rolf, and Dennis
What: It’s Dennis’ birthday! What else but breakfast in bed?
Where: Rose and Dennis’ flat
When: 31. October - morning
Rating: TBD

Usually getting out of bed when spending the night with Rolf was hard. But not today. Even with the time difference messing with her sense of time and the fatigue of 5 intense workdays plus spending the night not sleeping all that much with Rolf. Not only was today Halloween, which meant dressing up tonight and having fun, but more importantly: it was Dennis’ birthday, and that had Rose out of bed as soon as the alarm went off, and soon after whisking around the kitchen, preparing some of Dennis’ favourites for breakfast, and sending off Rolf’s Owl with an order for a vegetarian pizza.

“Okay, so we have both peach and orange juice and champagne back at the flat. What do you think he’d prefer?” she asked Rolf. “Mimosas or Belinis?”

Normally such a short night, even one filled with Rose, might leave him yawning and hard to get going in the morning. But today was Halloween, and it was Dennis' birthday, which they'd been hoping to be able to celebrate properly for quite a while, without letting him know it, of course. And of course there was dressing up later that night, and getting to go out.

Rolf hmmmed and pondered for a moment. "Let's go with Belinis," he said after a moment. "I like those better, adn I think he might too." Though they had stuff for both, so if it turned out wrong, he'd just pop back to his flat to get it. After all, must back the birthday boy happy!

Rose paused for a moment, considering that. She didn’t have any preferences, not where those two drinks were concerned; they both fit perfectly for brunches in her opinion. “Good plan,” she agreed, now packing up all the food on the table. “And if he doesn’t like them, I’m sure we have some gin, too. Or milk. There." Looking at the boxes on the table, she looked back to Rolf.

“I think that’s it. The pizza’s ordered to be delivered to the flat, so no point in waiting for that.” With a grin, she leaned up and kissed Rolf; they could make up for missed time later, maybe even play with the costumes they were bound to wear for whichever party they were going to tonight.

Summoning her bag, she let Rolf take the bag with the food, before she Disapparated and a moment later appeared just outside the flat. She waited until Rolf had arrived too, before easing the door open hoping that Dennis was still in bed. Waving for Rolf that the coast was clear, she went to Dennis’ door, pausing for a moment to make sure that they weren’t interrupting anything. With a grin, she slipped inside and didn’t quite jump into bed, but at least wriggled herself until she was sprawled across Dennis. “Happy birthday, leu pui.”

Rolf helped her pack up, the two of them working in sync as a team without having to discuss it. It was an awesome thing that he noted on occasion but never took for granted, since it was a level of clicked-ness that was rare even for him. "Looks like we got everything," he said, casting one more glance around before taking the bag and giving her a kiss.

He looked around one last time, just in case, and then followed her and Apparated and taking on a sneaking pose and winking at her. He followed her in and sneaked in behind her, tucking the bag of food with its stasis charm off to the side and crawling up into bed with Dennis and Rose. He flopped next to Dennis, cuddling unselfconsciously up to them both. "Happy happy birthday, cubby," he added with a grin.

Dennis was dreaming. He was running down a dark corridor, being chased by a giant jellybaby intent on marrying him off to it's daughter. As dreams went, it was rather stupid and his ability to realise this robbed the dream of any sort of menace that it possibly could have possessed. Still, he had just reached the end of a corridor - which was a dead end, of course - when the jellybaby raised it's hand and -- Rose and Rolf climbed into his bed with him. "I don't want to marry your daughter," he groaned, looking at them groggily.

He blinked for several seconds, then yawned ponderously. "Oh hello you two," he said, having got his bearings properly. "Happy Birthday to me indeed!"

Rose’s eyebrows shot up as she grinned, amused by the greeting. Dennis was one of her favourite people to wake up, for several reasons, one of them being that he rarely tended to wake up hexing or swinging. “I’m barely old enough to get married, little less have a daughter that age,” she grinned at him, then began peppering his cheek with loud, smacking kisses.

Sliding down so she wasn’t as on top of him as she had been before, though still so she could look at him. “So who’s the lucky girl?” she asked, waggling her eyebrows, well aware that the day Dennis was even considering marrying a girl it had to be a life or death situation, and maybe even not that. “Or would you rather pressies or breakfast before we start planning the wedding you’re refusing the poor girl?”

Rolf laughed softly as Dennis woke, very amused by the words that escaped his friends. He poked playfully at Dennis' side as Rose smacked kisses over his face. "Oh the poor heartbroken lovie," he lamented on the dream girl's behalf. "Such a loss. I'm sure she wanted you so very much, and you've broken her little dream-heart." He grinned as he teased his friend.

"We've got a really yummy line-up for you," he told Dennis. "Been planning this for a bit, we have, and we've got you now." He faux-cackled.

Dennis pulled a face as Rose kissed him. "It wasn't your child," he said in a tone of voice that would have better suited a Nobel Prize winning physicist talking to a dalmation, "It was the child of the giant jelly baby that was chasing me." He rolled his eyes and reached over and poked Rolf in the upper thigh. "None of that!"

He tilted his head and considered for a long moment. "Can I have presents then breakfast," he asked with a sweet little grin. "It's nice to have my birthday remembered!"

Rose considered Dennis’ dream for a moment, then shrugged slightly. “Sounds like kind of a catch to me, though,” she finally decided, then laughed. “Sweet, flexible, and if she gives you too much crap you just bite her head off. You could do worse.”

Her smile broadened into an excited grin when Dennis decided on presents first. Up until her third year at Hogwarts, birthdays had simply been a day, marked by a card from her parents, and that was it, so they had never really held any meaning for her, other than a way to keep track of her age. Then she had met Rolf, who had made her parents annual Owl appear fake by making the day feel special, even though they were surrounded by DEs and war. Since that day, she had made sure to remember the birthdays of those she cared about, and just a couple of years later, Dennis’ birthday had been one of those. “Of course!” Catching Rolf’s eyes for a moment, she slid off Dennis so he could sit up while she got the present from her bag. Once she was seated again, comfortably against Dennis’ side and close enough that she could touch Rolf, she handed it to him. “I found this on the market just outside the Indian Ministry for Magic right after we arrived,” she told him as handed it to him, letting him open it as she summoned an identical box that she held onto for a moment. She waited until Dennis had opened his, then she opened her own and placed the bracelets she always brought home for him in it. Upon closing the lid, she nodded for him to open his again, where the bracelets would now be. The Vanishing Box had been quite the find. Normally they would cost a fortune, but the woman who had sold it had obviously not been aware of what it was, she had simply sold the silly tourist two silver boxes for a good price and both of them had been happy with it.

Rolf grinned. Even though he hadn't always been able to make it home on the day of his friend's birthday, he'd always had something for them on the day. He'd always been big on birthdays and days of celebration; his parents weren't especially, but his first house elf and his siblings always had been, and his caring nature always made him make a deal out of someone's special day.

Rolf grabbed another parcel from off to the side and pulled it up, waiting until Dennis had opened Rose's gifts and looked them over first. Rose always found the best things, and he was as eager to see Dennis' reaction for them as he was for the things he'd found for him. The Vanishing Boxes were an absolute treasure, and he'd crowed along with her when she'd told him about them.

Then when it was his turn, he handed him the largish wrapped parcel that contained leather bag that Rolf had thought Dennis would be able to use for his work. There was a smaller package too, with a lion's head cloak pin. Both had screamed 'Dennis!' to him. "This is from Morroco, and I thought you'd like it." He'd been there briefly earlier in the year. The bag had been a more recent find but a happy one.

Dennis grinned at his friends and sat up, leaning against his pillows. He knew he'd get showered with presents that evening when he went home for a family dinner, but it was always nice to be pampered by Rose and Rolf. They were like his second family, and he knew how important christmases and birthdays were to them.

He took the box from Rose gingerly, inspecting it with interest. It was silver and embellished with a lion (of course) though otherwise appeared to be a normal box, that is until Rose summoned an identical one and put a bracelet in it. Quirking an eyebrow at her, he opened it up and saw the bracelet in his box. "This is amazing," he crowed happily. "I'll be able to send you messages and flowers and bugs and things when I travel!" Smiling, he hugged Rose warmly. "Thank you for the present."

Next, he turned to Rolf and smiled as he brought up a large wrapped bundle and a smallish one. Dennis lifted his eyebrows at the small parcel upon Rolf's declaration that it came from Morocco. Curiously, he unwrapped it and found a glorious gold lion's head cloak pin. "Godric's balls, this is amazing," he cried, hugging Rolf happily. Then, he turned his attention on the larger present, which he opened with the sort of lack of elegance common in the deeply curious. He sat back, whistling slightly as he looked at the bag. It was beautiful and being Wizarding made probably installed with an undetectable extension charm. Curiously, he put it over his head and felt his drop down over his shoulder and all the way to the middle of his chest before his head hit the bottom. "That's awesome Rolfie," he cried, launching himself across and peppering kisses on the other man's cheek.

"You two are the best, do you know that? I mean something I can put Rose in when I travel, and anothet thing that she can use to communicate with me while she's in the bag!"

Bringing Dennis presents was always a thrill. His excitement about things was just one of the many, many things about him that Rose had fallen for when they had first met. “Mm, happy birthday, love,” she cooed into his hug, then leaned back with a grin. “But if you’re going to send bugs through that thing, I’m giving mine to Rolf. Just saying.” It wasn’t that she was scared of bugs, she just wasn’t particularly fond of them either and much preferred other things to them; things such as sweets and treats and rings or secret messages.

It spoke heaps of Rolf’s ability to both find the perfect presents but also keep a secret, that Rose kept stretching her neck to be able to see what Dennis would find inside the wrappings. Her eyes widened, just like her smile did; Dennis’ excitement was infectious, when she too got to see what it was. She clapped, laughing with delight when Dennis’ put the bag on his head and a good third of him simply disappeared into it. Her smile, however, faded slightly and turned into a grimace of slight distrust as she shook her head. “Nooo,” she whined. “Please don’t put me in the bag! I’ll go everywhere with you, but not in a baaaaag.”

"Bugs," Rolf chirped with obligingly evil good cheer, teasing Rose with only one word and a look.

Rolf snickered appreciatively as Dennis put the bag over his head. Only Dennis, honestly, he thought with fond exasperation. "I'm glad you like it," he said, taking the kisses with good grace. He grinned broadly.

"But noooo, no bagging my girlfriend up. She's tiny but that would be a rather small fit!" He grinned over at Rose. "Plus she's more fun to tote around over my shoulder, anyway."

Dennis pretended to pout at Rose. "But Rooooooose," he whined. "Bugs! Rolf loves bugs, and we can't all butter him up with our vagina like you do." He paused and looked down speculatively for a moment, then back up at his friends. "Especially when some of us don't have one."

He put the bag aside and smiled at Rose and Rolf winsomely. "I wouldn't actually put her in the bag. No one puts baby in the corner, or in this case, the bag. I know." He tilted his head and poked his tongue out at Rolf. "This is why you're the Rose Wrangler," he said, his tone implying unnecessary capitalisations.

He looked back down at the box and the bag and then smiled happily. "These will come in really useful for my next trip actually. Off to the Caribbean. You two interested?"

“Alright, alright,” Rose caved with a small pout. “Just… send a warning note before you send any creepy-crawlies through, yeah?” Glancing between the two men, her eyes lingered on Rolf’s for a moment, before she smirked and looked back to Dennis. “You don’t need a vagina to butter Rolf,” she claimed, her eyes darting to Rolf’s as her smirk turned wickeder and she made herself comfortable against Dennis. “Rolf loves me for my boobs, don’t you, babe? And you, leu piu, you have those amazing baby blues that I’m sure he can’t resist either.”

Beaming at Rolf, Rose felt pleased as punch when Rolf stood up for her, defending her honour, or at least ensured that she wouldn’t have to go into the bag. That is, until he came up with an alternative to the bag, which earned him a shove and a goodnatured glare. “Why would anybody put a baby in a corner or a bag?” she asked Dennis, figuring that he had just stated the obvious, unless, of course, the parents needed space and so found it the most practical to put the baby in the corner.

She did perk up almost immediately as Dennis continued. “The Caribbean? Sun, white beaches, azure water and you two all wet and barely dressed?” Her smile brightened as she nodded. “I’m in. When are we leaving? Why are we going there?”

If Rolf had been drinking something, he'd have snorted out the beverage through his nose at the 'butter up with the vagina' remark. His eyes caught Rose's though, and he followed her lead, eyes crinkling up at the corners slightly in mirth. "Oh yes, my darling. Only for your perky boobs," he lied (badly but dramatically) in a perky voice. He ogled them for good measure. He flopped down partly across Dennis as well. "Oh he has the prettiest eyes," he agreed, laughing.

Rolf put whatever reference Dennis has just made into the 'it must be from the Muggle world' box in his head. He'd figure it out later. While he had passing familiarity with some facets of the Muggle world, there was very much he didn't know about it.

"Oooooh I love the Caribbean," he said, echoing Rose. "Let me get a shop-sitter and I'm totally in on that."

Dennis giggled at Rose's pout and lifted his hand in a conciliatory manner. "I'd never just randomly send bugs, don't worry," he said soothingly. "Jewellery and flowers, yes, but not bugs." He made a slight ooph noise as they both settled against him. "I do have very pretty eyes right," he rumbled contentedly in agreement.

He sat up and looked at them both in horror. "Have I actually not made either of you watch Dirty Dancing," he asked, utterly askance. "I have been deeply remiss to deprive you both of the sight of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze doing the lift," he buried his face in his hands and pretended to cry noisily.

He grinned and gave a shout of excitement. "Yes! I knew I could count on you two," he crowed. "I'm not sure when we're leaving, but I'm working on a piece about the different ways cultures treat werewolves. Apparently they get a pretty good deal in the Caribbean? Also, the Caribbean."

Rose’s eyes narrowed slightly at the mock-horror in Dennis’ eyes. She tilted her head slightly as she thought back, then shook her head. “No, I think the one you showed me was called You’ve Got Male?” She sent him a sugar sweet smile, then continued. “So what is this one? The lift and Dirty Dancing… oh! A musical version of Kama Sutra?”

She grinned brightly, already excited about the prospect of a new holiday this soon after Greece. “Well, unless I’ve a mission, then I’m all in. You and Rolf knows about the werewolf things and I’ll brush up on my vacationing skills and try out the beach before becoming the most envied witch on the beach when you two join me.”

Rolf blinked. "Dirty Dancing? No, I think I'd remember a name like that," he said dryly. It wasn't a surprise, though, for even if he was familiar with the Muggle world to a small degree, television didn't feature highly in it unless you considered National Geographic or such. His eyebrows raised though, sensing that Dennis had shown Rose some rather racier things.

"Considering the fur must get rather hot down there, you'd hope they treat weres good," he said. Were equality was something he did feel strongly about, though he also thought that providing Wolfsbane free would go a long way to sorting out any potential dangers. "I'll contact a few people for you, though, if you want." He grinned. "Oh yes, you'll be the star of the beach, love."

Dennis rolled his eyes and levelled a long-suffering expression at Rose, before looking over at Rolf and sighing. "This one, I swear," he said, sadly shaking his head. "She decides to watch a couple of gay pornos that she 'found' in my things, and get's me to watch them with her and suddenly she thinks Muggle's are all deviants." He tried to keep his face neutral, but failed spectacularly and began to laugh. "Dirty Dancing is like a classic Muggle movie. It's about a girl being sent to a camp and there's dancing and..." he paused and frowned, "I don't think I've ever actually watched it sober but it has the main dude lift the main girl up over his head.

He clapped his hands excitedly. "Excellent, so Rose can be all sunbathing goddess, and then you and I can go and be intrepid researchers," he said with a smirk at Rolf, before turning to Rose and sighing melodramatically. "We both know that Rolf will be the star of the beach, don't we? I mean take his shirt of and people will just swoon. Including you."

“I do not!” Rose object, laughing, until Dennis was laughing too and she could see that he had just been teasing. Still, as he continued, the description of the movie didn’t sound like a porno thing, but it didn’t sound like much of a plot either. “Why?” she asked him, the doubt evident in both her tone of voice and the look on her face. After all, the few times Rolf had lifted her over his head had been when they were training and he had tossed her somewhere.

Watching her two favourite people in the whole world plot and plan had her smiling. With a grin and a sigh matching Dennis’ she rested her head on his shoulder and glance up at him. “And you.” She had a seriously sexy boyfriend, and Dennis wasn’t blind – she was very well aware of that – so why not let him enjoy the sight too? “I think between the three of us, we’ll cause quite a stir on that beach, or at least cricked necks.”

"Well, it's not like I've never lifted Rose above my head before," Rolf said, voice a bit skeptical about the movie. "I suppose we could watch it some time and see exactly what you're talking about though."

Rolf had to laugh. "Me, huh? I think you all are a bit biased, there, but I do agree that Rose will be the highlight, honestly. Sexy witch," he said, waggling his eyebrows at her playfully. "Though you're probably right, we'll all turn some heads." At least to a degree, and it didn't bother him as much as it might once have. "Is there anything else we want to give a go while we're there?"

Dennis made an amused face at first Rose, then Rolf. "I thought we weren't talking about that time I walked in on you two going at it like a pair of charmed jack rabbits," he asked, a sly grin belying the prim tone of his voice.

"Hmmm, that's true. But really, we all know I'm the hottest, right?" He tilted his head and thought for a moment, thinking of the various things he'd need for his story. "Well I'm not doing a threesome if that's what you're asking," he teased absently. "No but seriously I definitely will need your help as a naturalist with some of my story maybe?"
