Re: Bryony and Viktor
Bryony's smile faltered a little. She couldn't help wondering if perhaps Rowan talked about Allegra and Shauna but never mentioned her. They were so accomplished, moving in the right circles of society, the kind of sisters Rowan could be proud of. What was Bryony except the chubby hanger-on? She wasn't even living with the family anymore, so she supposed she couldn't really blame him. She was distracted by her own thoughts when Victor mentioned his mother. "I'd imagine she enjoys it, getting to be so close to her grandchildren," she said, glancing over at the children in question. "And it must be nice for them to have her here, to keep things familiar to them." She couldn't imagine moving to a whole new country at such a young age — she'd found Hogwarts terrifying enough when she was eleven.
"Do you miss Bulgaria?" She didn't know much about the country - she pictured deep pine forests and snow, but had no real idea if that was even correct. Perhaps she was just remembering the uniforms the students from Durmstrang had worn when they came for the Tri-Wizard Tournament. "I suppose London's very different?" She felt like she was repeating herself, always qualifying her thoughts with 'I suppose' or 'I imagine', and she hoped she didn't sound self-centred. It was just that she didn't want to present things as fact that she didn't really know anything about.
She felt some of that tension leave as he mentioned his other siblings played Quidditch. "Oh, that's lovely! Did you grow up all playing together?" she asked, enthusiasm bleeding into her tone despite her usual care not to sound too interested in the sport. "Rowan used to play with his school friends and I would watch them from my window. I-" She caught herself before she admitted that she'd always longed to play too. "That is, my sisters and I enjoyed it so much."
