Journal: Hyperion Montgomery
So the Dean at Finnigan's pub gave me this journal, apparently they've been around for ages? I'm guessing from the fact that it's full of other people's writing that it's not a private journal - amazing skills of detection, I know. So, hello other people with the journals! How are we all?

[Private to Percy]
My sixth sense is tingling, are you feeling particularly smug for some reason?

Well, I do have Lucy back as of today. Have had some interesting outings lately, am still rather pleased about having brought in a few bids at the raffle the other night and had a lovely date afterward.

And then there's some trifling thing about a new job, but that can't possibly be it.

And she survived another week with the she-devil? Quite a resilient little lass she is. Oho and who won the pleasure of your company then?

A new job! You've been holding out on me! What's the new job then?

She did, and of course she's resilient - she's a Weasley in everything but name. Lisa Turpin, she and I had met before and her son and Lucy had played a little then, so at least my 'date' was with someone familiar and kind.

Well, I haven't quite advertised it yet - gave my proper notice just over a week ago, and it starts a week from Monday. I'm privately hoping Mum spreads the word to my siblings so I don't have to tell them in person. Anyway, I'll be working in the Muggle world as Kingsley's liaison with the Prime-Minister. I think he felt I needed a little more exposure to the Muggle world, but also wanted someone he could trust in the post. I'm rather pleased with it, if I do say so myself.

Aye she is at that! Well well, Perce... Did you find Miss Turpin to be enchanting company, or has the she-beast still scared you off women for life?

Oho! Working with the snakes in the Office of the Ministry of Magic and the snakes in Whitehall! That will be fun! I'm going to have to find a stick to periodically deflate you know aren't I? Seriously though, congratulations. It sounds like it'll be fascinating! I've worked on protective detail a time or two for various ministers and civil servants - it's always fun and challenging to wear a suit and keep your magic hidden.

The she-beast thankfully doesn't have quite that power. Lisa was quite pleasant company, a lovely companion. I don't know if there is much potential for anything romantic, but at the very least, I hope I have made a new friend.

What would I do without you there to deflate me every now and then? But thank you, and if you have any tips on how to keep magic hidden, or places where I can get proper suits made, they would be quite welcome. Penelope and I have been working on a backstory to supplement my lack of history within the British Muggle school system, trying to keep it similar to my own background to make it easier to remmeber. I'm to have spent my formative years in Canada and have recently come back after having been encouraged to by Mr. Clearwater, who worked in the government himself. At least the Prime-Minister will know who I am and where I'm from.

Aside from your senses, how is auror life treating you? Boring I hope, we can't have too much excitement in your field.

My inner child requires me to come find you and sing some sort of juvenile song at you, but I shall refrain. Mainly because the effort would be too much.

I shudder to think what you'd do without my defaltionary skills, Perce, I really do. Probably explode? As for keeping your magic hidden: don't do it when people are around, and if you think you can manage then don't take your wand at all. Or at least keep it strapped somewhere where you have to think before getting it. Suits are easy, I'll take you to Savile Row and buy you a couple as a promotion present - no arguments. I think the Canada plan will do nicely, though can you do the accent?

I've been fairly good? Got cruciated off a roof and set on fire last week. Broke all the bones in my left hand and got a new scar on my side the week before that - so nothing major to report.

That and I know several hexes that just might test your Auror's reflexes. One doesn't grow up with Fred and George Weasley without learning a trick or two.

I'm going to try to stay wandless until I get home at night. And you know I must argue on that, I am perfectly capable of purchasing my own clothing, thank you kindly. As for Canada, no accent should be required - I would have been eleven when my 'parents' moved there, and though I have been living among them for years, I was never so immersed as to have lost my accent. At least that is the story I am sticking to.

So just another day in the life of an auror, then. You still haven't tired of it yet? No desire for something less dangerous?

That would be interesting - one doesn't grow up with Pandora without being able to dodge unknown hexes.

That would probably be wisest? I tended to use wandless magic if I needed to. Yes yes, you'll argue but in the end you'll get the damn suits with me one way or another - what's the use of having oodles of money if you can't extravagantly buy your good friend a couple of bespoke suits. Because the vipers at Whitehall will notice Perce. But I'm glad your Canadian story is all worked out.

Something less dangerous like what eh? I've been nominated for a position on the Wizengamot, but I can keep doing my job in the Aurory with that.

I suppose I don't have any say in the matter then - but beware, I have expensive taste when I allow myself the luxury.

A Wizengamot position would be most prestigious. Will you accept the nomination?

The Dean? I've never heard his name used as an actual title before.

Yes, these tend to be quite useful and several of us have them. For the most part they seem to be full of good tidings. I for one have been enjoying a day off from work and have focused mostly on books that don't write back today.

There are many Deans, Miss Granger but only one Dean Thomas - he is the Dean. All imposters will be cursed and imprisoned.

Ahhh reading is always a relaxing thing to do to be sure, lass.

A little behind the times, aren't you, love?

Though I've missed you a lot.

What can I say, been working hard, dearie.

It'd be nice to have a conversation with you normally, I miss you

All work and no play will make you a dull boy, you know. Are you okay? You don't normally hide under a rock.

And I thought I was hiding under a rock.

Don't get blown off any more buildings, please. I might have to kill someone and you wouldn't like that.

As the name attached to my comments says, yes, that is I. Unless I'm impersonating myself, which would be a bit too strange and currently serve no purpose.

Well you never can tell sometimes. I've watched a group of women pretending to be men pretend to be women. That was a weird experience, let me tell you.

I will! I still need to take you out for that non-alcoholic drink at that place I mentioned. I think if I don't Lavender and Susan will begin to meddle?

Yes but at least if we control the scenario then we can actually enjoy the outing without it being odd? Susan mentioned something about it being a "mandated mandate" before I 'accidentally' cast a silencing charm on her.

Yeah, good plan. I tend to find it easier to do what Susan 'suggests' unless I have a serious reason not to.
