Quidditch & Cocktails Who: Bryony and Marcus What: Quidditch! Cocktails! Where: Tutshill, then Wingbeat When: Thursday, all day [backdated] Rating: SFW, probably
Instead of being upset after the ball, Bryony had been surprised to find she was just numb. Most of the people she'd talked to had been fine, but her mother or one of her sisters had been there between every dance, picking at her behaviour, her appearance, making her feel as if she couldn't do anything right for herself. And at the end of it, once they'd said goodbye to all their guests, her mother had said 'I wish you made a better impression, Bryony' and left it at that.
She should have been excited when she woke up on Thursday - she was going to see her first ever Quidditch match, with her favourite person, and then she was going on a 'date' to have cocktails, which she'd never had before but Marcus would be there so everything would be fine. She should have been excited, but she wasn't. So after a brief, silent breakfast with her aunt she apparated straight to the studio. Braith wasn't around yet, so Bryony could concentrate on the landscape she'd started months ago. She'd been neglecting it in favour of her portrait work, but today wasn't about her potential career - she just wanted to make something beautiful.
It was hours later that she apparated back to her aunt's house, with only a few minutes before she was supposed to meet Marcus. She changed out of old, paint-spattered robes and into fresh black ones. She added her magpie brooch and felt a final stirring of excitement. She was a Magpies supporter who was actually going to get to see her team play for the first time! She apparated to Marcus' flat and quickly loosed her hair from its bunches. "Marcus?" She walked into the living room to look for him. "Are you ready to go?"
