Who: Gemma & Cho
What: Weird Sisters concert, baby! Gemma and Cho go on their raffle date.
Where: Tokyo for the concert, then back to The Scotch in London afterward
When: Saturday, October 18 - evening & night
Status: Closed / Ongoing

The raffle had arranged for them to get their tickets and a portkey which would take them to the right place at the right time - Gemma hoped. She was dressed in one of her funkier outfits with gorgeous heels that were specially charmed to keep her feet comfortable all night long. She was more than happy with her date for the night, as Cho was a nice looking girl in her own right. She hadn't quite given up hoping that maybe something more might come out of this night out, but even if it didn't, the night was going to be spectacular.

The portkey dropped them off outside of the venue and Gemma could already see witches and wizards appearing all around them. She looked over at Cho and grinned. "So, did you land with all your pieces intact?" she teased happily.

Cho smiled back, checking up and down her body with a lingering gaze and a giggle. "Seems so, and you?" Cho wore short spangly shorts and an old muggle band t-shirt, having felt like getting into the mood (and feeling like Mel and Marietta might have a few strong words for her if she ever dressed like that to join them out on the town). But this was Tokyo. And Gemma. And the Weird Sisters. And Cho had been feeling out of sorts, so why not shake it all off and just have a fun time?

"You don't think it'll be a bunch of firsties in there, do you?" She asked with the smallest amount of embarrassment in her voice. Maybe the shorts had been a bit much after all, even if she wasn't chilled thanks to warming charms.

"Oh don't worry, all my pieces are right where they're supposed to be," she finished with a wink.

Gemma took another look around and shook her head. "I doubt it. The Weird Sisters have been around longer than firsties have been alive. I doubt they have enough good taste to be here," she added with a chuckle. She then 'gentlemanly' held her elbow out to her companion. "Shall we go in, my lady?"

Cho giggled at Gemma's response. Back in school Cho would have feared someone like Gemma - totally in control of herself, a Slytherin to boot. But as a customer at the salon, she'd come to see Gemma as smart, self-possessed, and fashionable. Cho had wondered at first how a night out with her might end up, but they'd already been getting along just fine and Cho had felt her worries of the past few weeks melting away the more they talked and joked.

She exhaled a small sigh in relief at Gemma's answer and then laughed with her and looped her arm through Gemma's, "Absolutely, gorgeous."

Gemma didn't know the language spoken around her, but she didn't let that stop her from acting as if she absolutely belonged right there. She led her date toward the hall, which from the outside looked like a giant eggplant-coloured blob, but once they were inside, it was breathtakingly beautiful.

"Just imagine the charms they had to put into this thing to keep it afloat," she said, awestruck as she looked over all the seats, the stage, and the general beauty of the inside. "So what should we do first - find our seats, or check out souvenir and food stands?"

Cho couldn't help her gasp as they entered the concert hall. The lighting alone was amazing, bu the scale and complexity of the whole thing had her in awe. When Gemma spoke, Cho snapped back to the moment and smiled brightly. "I bet seats can wait, if we're even going to need them at all," she added cheekily. "I might be dying for a t-shirt, but I bet that's the worst kind of dorky." She shook her head at her own ridiculousness.

"And as for the food stands, I know we'll be enjoying completely delicious and exclusive cocktails later - we really must find out how Romilda Vane got her hand on that reservation - I could go for something fruity and alcoholic, what about you?"

Gemma glanced at Cho's on choice of apparel for the night and smiled. "Dorky or not, there's nothing wrong with wanting a souvenir if you want one. But I can definitely do fruity and alcoholic." She spotted a bar along the one side of the room cordoned off from the general area to prevent young people from getting in.

"Romilda's got contacts," she said approvingly as they headed toward the bar. "She's got a good head on her shoulders too. I'd love to know her secret too, though."

Cho gave a nod of thanks to Gemma, her cheeks coloring just slightly. It was true, Cho was a bit of a dork, but in the social way that most assumed was ditzy rather than nerdy, and so to see Gemma might not think so made her happy.

As they queued up for the bar, Cho listened to Gemma describing Romilda. "You know, I've been in to her shop a couple of times, but I never would have thought of her as shrewd in that way, and I mean 'shrewd' as a compliment." Cho was guilty of House loyalties to this day, and to think of the girl who'd believed in divination and love potions and gossip as anything more than that was a new perspective to her.

"Of course shrewd is a compliment," she said with a chuckle. "It's another word for good business sense, which is mantadory to get by with your own business. I'm sure you're more than a little shrewd in your own right. Business is good, I hope?"

While not necessarily the most skilled witch, Gemma had a handful of spells she'd developed familiarity with over the years due to necessity. Thankfully, one of them was a basic translation spell that would allow her to understand simple words and expressions in other languages and would translate her words into one other people could understand. It wasn't useful for conversations that were technical in nature or required extensive vocabulary, but for ordering a drink at a bar, it would suffice. She pulled out her wand and formed the charm around her head, then looked over at Cho. "Do you need a translation charm?"

Cho rolled her eyes, "Business is too good if you ask me, so many spring weddings next year, I feel like I could do with a couple of good clones. But the new office and all of that is incredible, and I'd assume the same at the spa? I never see it anything but packed." And Cho knew that Gemma was damned good at business, no matter how busy the salon got.

Cho nodded her head with gratitude, "Thank you, I love charms but was never well trained with the international ones, and even my Cantonese is dreadful these days, but don't tell my father," she joked.

Once she'd felt the familiar sensation of a charm envelope her, she turned to the good looking Japanese bartender and ordered a Strawberry Long Island Iced Tea.

"If you need some help, I can always keep my ear to the ground in case anyone's looking for work. I'll send them your way if they look like they've got a good eye. As for me, I'm doing all right," she said with false modesty. "And my clients are happy with my work, so all is well so far. I might considering hiring an assistant in the future, though, but only if the work and profits call for it."

"I promise, I won't tell if you don't," Gemma said with a chuckle as she cast the spell. Once Cho was charmed (she hoped in more ways than one), she made things easier for herself by ordering the same thing.

Drinks in hand, she slid her hand through Cho's free arm and subtly led her away from the bar and toward the souvenir stand. "So aside from being a brilliant businesswoman, what should I know about Ms. Cho Chang?"

"Really?" Cho was surprised by the offer, but Gemma certainly knew more local people than her thanks to the salon, and she was grateful for it, "That would wonderful of you. Just look out for people with good taste and a sense for a good party." She grinned. Her smiled turned a little bit more shy when Gemma chuckled like that.

"About me? Not much, I guess," she shrugged, looking at the t-shirts hanging in the back of the booth. Cho thought a moment and then rattled off, "Ravenclaw, but you probably already know that. Class of '97. Daddy's from Hong Kong, Mum's half Scottish and Half Korean, so I'm a bit of everything I suppose. What about you? What should I know?"

"I've a few people with good taste coming in regularly. If any of them are looking for work, I'll send them your way."

Gemma was pleased to see the wide variety of shirts and sized. There was one in the back that looked to be small enough to fit Lucy, so she knew she had to get it before the night was out, with a matching one for Allegra. She couldn't possibly leave without souvenirs, after all.

"So you've a varied background, nice." She titled her head coyly at Cho's question. "Well, I can't tell you too much or else I'd have to kill you," she teased. "I never knew my father, it was always just Mum and me. Slytherin, class of '92, and slightly infamous for being the reason girls were no longer allowed on the House team." She wrinkled her nose. "Long story. But I miss it. Someone was trying to put together a small amateur thing the other week, though I haven't heard anything since. Would be nice if some of us could still play a little. Do you still play? I heard you were quite a seeker in your day."
