Why have I never spent time in Muggle libraries before? They have so many books on things I've never thought to ask in Muggle Studies. And they have computing devices with access to the 'internet' which has even more information from all over the world in every language imaginable. There must be some way for this technology to function in a magical environment.

After a few hours' exploration around other countries of the Commonwealth, I think I would like to visit Ottawa some day. It looks quite charming, and the Canadian parliament buildings are quite frankly beautiful in architecture. Not to mention it has some excellent resources to use in my 'alternate Muggle identity'.

[Private to Oliver and Penelope]

All right, all my ducks are in a row. I've done the research. I've spoken with Mum and she's ecstatic at the chance to spend more time with Lucy. I'm going to speak with Kingsley tomorrow and give him the news that I'm taking the position.

I spoke with Lucy tonight and she was torn, but I think in the end she understood. This is going to tear me apart, not being able to be with her during weekdays, but I think it's for the best in the end. I suppose I need to learn to let her go a little at the beginning so it isn't as hard when she's eleven and going to Hogwarts.

Merlin, I'm really doing this, aren't I. Work as a Muggle. Have I gone mad?

You're not taking her out of the country without my permission. You won't let me take her to Italy without asking.

What, are you getting married?

I am not taking her out of the country. Can you not get your bloody knickers in a twist for once and wait until I can explain in person? There will be no moving anywhere or visiting places, simply a change in circumstances that as her mother I feel you should at least know about. There should be no change to the custody arrangements we have as a result.

And no, I am not getting married.

My knickers are none of your bloody business as it happens. Look at it from my perspective. You come at me all "we need to talk" and you tell me it involves my daughter. Excuse me if I just wanted to get the most frightening of the potential topics squared away without having to fret about them until Sunday.

Yeah, I thought that was rather a longshot.

Only you would skip straight from "we need to talk" to "you're taking my daughter out of the country".

Very amusing, though I'll have you know I attracted a good number of bids at last weekend's raffle. Our date is tomorrow at an archery range, and I believe I already have an image in mind for the target.

Only you would question what goes through a mother's mind at the words "we need to talk" out of her child's father's mouth, especially when said child is currently in said father's custody.

Except that said father in the child's five and a half years has never done anything to give said mother any cause to worry about something so ridiculous and outlandish.

Well it isn't as if you haven't got all squirrelly and paranoid about me once or twice in her life!

In the beginning, yes, but it has been years. Furthermore, I would have the courtesy to do it behind your back rather than to your face.
