Seamus properly scowled at Susan then, because it seemed to him she must be deliberately misunderstanding the situation and that irritated him - far more than it ought to have done, but he wasn't examining that just yet. "Come off it. He didn't sort his schedule out to spend more time with me!" The idea was ridiculous. "We don't even spend that much time together. Maybe one night a week, if that. I see Ben and Bryn more often." Her attempt to console him didn't improve matters. He didn't 'have someone' the way she seemed to think.
He continued to frown until she mentioned Halloween - and then he groaned. "I don't know. I need to sort something." He should probably have done that by now, but the raffle had taken most of his attention. "Guess I'll miss Dennis' birthday." Which wasn't unusual; since he started working in pubs he'd had to miss a lot of birthdays and parties. It was just the way things were, but that didn't mean he had to like it.
