RP: Coffee date
Who: Pandora and Chris

What: Coffee date

Where: Coffee shop

When: Tuesday October 14

Rating: SFW ?

Her aunt had been side-eyeing her ever since she came in to the shop that morning. She’d been doing that a lot lately, though Dora had to wonder precisely why. Normally she knew, but Aunty M had been especially tight-lipped. It could be any variety of things – suspicion about her looking dressier, a different location, extra training, or even simply her plotting to set her up with another pureblood man in an effort to marry her off.

Given her aunt had been a Slytherin also, it really could be any combination of the above.

But she slipped out after a little while, Elroygiving her a sereptitious wave from behind the counter. She flashed him a smile, forgiving him preemptively of the next time he disappeared on her to make her work the floor.

She’d taken special care with her appearance, scolding herself for even thinking he might have an extra interest in her, but she liked talking with him, and flirting with him, and it felt nice to have someone who seemed interested in her and for now, atleast, didn’t know about her past. Unless someone had told him. Her hair had a couple of small colored streaks charmed in, nothing too overt or flashy, but a sign that she felt more herself than she had in a while, and similar makeup charms, subtle but present. Her Mark she’d actually glamoured today, so she could wear a robe with shorter sleeves that looked closer to a muggle dress than some of the more old fashioned robes.

She entered the coffee shop precisely on the mark for the time they’d set, punctual to the minute as was typical for her. She tugged her ear lobe, unconsciously checking her disillusioned hearing aid, as she looked around for her ‘date.’

Chris was only running a couple of minutes late - rare for him, who usually ran at least a half hour later than he intended. He just never could seem to care enough that people were waiting for him - and if it was important, they would wait, after all. But he liked Dora. There was something unassuming about her that he appreciated, she hadn't seemed bothered by his attitude or his pushiness and it was honestly refreshing.

He slipped into the coffee shop and spotted her immediately, she was looking around for him and he put on an exaggerated look of apology. "I've forgotten how weird London is to get around in," he missed the winding, misnamed, ridiculous streets of Mexico City and Boston, and then leaned down to kiss her cheek in greeting. "How are you, Dora?"

Dora was used to being the first one somewhere. Though she rarely arrived early-early, most people didn't arrive on time. She wasn't annoyed, though part of her paranoidly wondered for a couple of minutes if she would be stood up. It wasn't a serious consideration, and so she ignored it as best she could.

She gave him a bright smile when he arrived, somewhat indulgent after noticing his expression. "No worries, you're not very late," she told him, tilting her cheek up to make it easier for him to reach, feeling a little flutter of something that yes, this might actually be a date of sorts. "I don't know my way around London terribly well, either, except the magical side of it." But she was learning, yes, slowly and step by step. It took a lot more bravery for a pureblood like her, and she was quickly realizing how sheltered in that particular aspect her parents had kept her.

"I'm doing all right. Busy," she said, which was a simplification of all the things she had piled on her plate nearly every day. "With the shop and everything else." Especially with the new work out regimen Richard had her doing. But the perk was she was getting fitter, and she could feel it already. "How about you? What have you been up to?" she asked curiously as they slipped into line.

He snorted a small laugh, "My Mom would compare this to Christmas day, I'm never this early," he gave a slightly chagrined look. "Wait, you've never 'done' Muggle London?" He even made air-quotes when he said 'done'. "We have to change that sometime, in exchange for you teaching me the finer points of coffee, of course," he smiled at her, all perfectly white teeth and confidence.

Chris had no question in his mind she'd want to see him again. It was just sort of an attitude that came with being Chris.

"Whoever they are, you must insist on a day off sometimes," then again, Chris was hardly working at all, still figuring out what to do with the Fawley Foundation's money and house hunting with his fellow Hufflepuffs.

Chris put on his usual head-cocked-in-thought look of concentration and then exhaled, "Nothing, really? I've yet to even go to my new office, and I still have no idea what to do with the money the Foundation has given me for equality issues. I've always been in this sort of work but only as an extra pair of hands. Now to run things?" He laughed, mostly to himself, and then looked to her face, bringing himself back to the moment. "I have no idea, if I'm honest." Chris' honest was usually hidden in a sarcastic comment or sudden angry burst, but he felt a sort of relaxation around Dora, as if neither of them were fighting, anything at all in the world, they were both just sort of being in the moment. It was nice.

Just then they got to the front of the line and he indicated she should order first and then he asked for a soy latte and paid for both of them, insisting that she let him.

"Whereas mine would have smacked me upside the head for being late," Dora said, and she grinned, showing she didn't really mind. If what he said was true, she was flattered he'd showed up this early. She nearly blushed and shrugged slightly. "I'm pureblood?" She offered by way of explanation. "I grew up here. There's never been any real need before this year to venture out." She couldn't say she minded his confidence at all; in most situations she had plenty of her own, though she was feeling a bit like a school girl inside right now, awkward because a cute guy was taking her out and how long had it actually been anyway. She didn't want to think about it.

"Well," she drawled slightly, stretching out her brogue, " there's Aunty M at thr shop and my mentor as well, plus I might be a bit of a workaholic sometimes." She held her fingers close together and grinned, though truth was she wouldn't know what to do with too much downtime and she really didn't like to have time to think. Thinking led to bad things.

She unconsciously mirrored his pose, the head tilting natural to her especially when she started unconsciously to read lips along with the sound. "Oh darling, you really should check out the office, if only to make sure there isn't dreadful carpet there," she said with a laugh. "You'll figure it out though. I can't say I'd be the best sounding board for equality issues," not with thr Mark on her arm, hidden again today, and occasional issues sorting out what her opinion was versus what had been shoved at her years ago. "But I can always give it a go. And if I'm too far offbase you can just feed me more caffeine." Her lips turned up a bit, thinking of how much money she spent on coffee lately. She wasn't sorry either.

Dora ordered some dark as sin coffee and asked for a bit of chocolate to be added to it, the only sweetener she really wanted. She gracefully aceded to his wish to pay. "Ah my dark withered soul rejoices," she said as her hands wrapped around the cup, and she grinned over the rim of it at him.

"So you've been house hunting, right?" She asked as they got out of the way of the line. She followed his guidance though the way she held herself kept people from her path naturally.
