Intro Post
Hello! So, I'm Becca Stareyes, aka Rebecca, and this is my intro post. My biggest fandoms are Slayers, Avatar: The Last AIrbender, Vision of Escaflowne, and Fullmetal alchemist. Currently, I'm active in the first two, as well as The Dresden Files. I like a lot more things, to be honest -- I'm a pretty big SF/Fantasy fan, and I enjoy anime and manga, as well as the occasional video game.
My work in progress list is as follows.
The Sun, Half-Covered. First in a (hopefully) trilogy of Slayers fics, though this one will stand alone if I don't bother to get the others finished. It currently is half finished -- it does have an outline. Basically, it's a mystery story involving Amelia and Zelgadis, set in a southern area of Seyruun that I kind of modeled after all the historicals I read as a kid about the settlement of the Great Plains. The other two will have more political intrigue, as the neighboring countries get involved.
In the Shadows of the Flame. A Vision of Escaflowne story I started ages ago, and the two chapters I've done probably need massive editing, but one I'd like to finish. Especially if I saved my notes on what was going to happen (I think they were on paper, so probably got lost in one of my moves -- I kind of remember what was gonna happen). It's a post series fic, so skim this if you care about spoilers. It's about Allen chasing down a rogue from Zaibach, while trying to cope with his sister's return -- or Celena trying to convince her brother that she can help and she's not the sweet little sister he remembers. For this, I definitely need to rewatch the series, at least the bits with Zaibach and the Schezars and Millerna.
An As-Yet Unnamed Avatar AU. Inspired by the business with China and the Panchen Lama. Basically, when it came time for the next Panchen Lama to be selected, China rejected the choice selected by the Dalai Lama in favor of another child. So, I got the idea about writing an Avatar AU where the Fire Nation set up a false Avatar after they attack the Air Nomads, with the idea that it'll keep people they conquer from rallying behind either the memory of the Avatar, or another impostor. So, by the time of the series they are on someone from the Water Tribe -- a Katara kidnapped as a child. I still have to figure out what to do with Zuko (who isn't in on the secret -- so, until Aang awakens and starts claiming to be the Avatar in public, he's got no reason to pursue the Avatar). I also want to wait until at least partway through season 3 to get a better feel for the Fire Nation.
An As-Yet Unnamed Harry Potter fic. Mostly I wanted to do a post-series fic about how Harry and friends cope with suddenly no longer living with Voldemort hanging over their heads. Mostly it was Harry trying to figure out what next, Draco starting to cope with the idea that maybe the Death Eaters were wrong, and Hermione retrieving her parents and thinking about her place in both worlds. Also, a bit on what happened to all the younger Muggleborns during that year, and on Hogwarts' recovery. Here, I probably need to reread DH and do an outline. And think of some type of conflict and way to tie things together.
An As-Yet Unnamed Dresden Files fic. I'm tempted to do one of those 'TV-verse, but add in stuff from the books where it doesn't contradict' fics that are so popular in Slayers fandom. I want to do a 'how Harry met Michael' fic, with both of them working on the same case for different people (Harry being paid by a client, and Michael being called by God). I just need an interesting supernatural Baddie of the Week. And to outline.
Clearly, I stink at naming. I'm also big on outlines, though mine tend to change a lot as I get new ideas.
