Space: The Final Frontier
There was something sort of ironic about a starship captain named Andromeda, her chief engineer quipped when he met her.
"That's not what irony means," she flatly replied, because she was not about to let some smartarse ship's engineer sass her just because she was a woman. The Nymphadora was her ship, and there would be no undermining of her authority.
But then the engineer just grinned back at her, and she wondered if perhaps she'd misjudged him at first. "Sorry, ma'am," he promptly responded. "More a numbers man than a words man. Goes with the job!"
Captain Black smiled faintly, the last rays of sunlight catching her hair as the ship left their home solar system, and Lt. Commander Tonks wondered if the rules about fraternization still held for an entire 5 year long mission.
