Meredith & Chloe
The second the train started moving again, Meredith scrambled, her trunk still in her hands. You’d think by now she’d have gotten a place to sit but she’d been searching half the place for Addie and Greta but didn’t get a chance to reach the box cards further back, till the train was already moving.
And Merlin knew how bad her balance was already. She’d trip and with her luck, her knickers would be the first to fall out of her trunk if it opened up.
Quickly, as she could, she shoved herself into the closest one and sat down, letting her trunk stay on the floor. Too late to even bother reaching up and securing it above her head. When she turned around, she cringed in embarrassment at the sight of the other occupant in there. “Uh, sorry! I needed a place to, uh, sit. You know. Two years of going back to school already and I still don’t… have… a spot. I talk too much. Sorry!”
The girl smiled. “That’s alright. You can sit here. This isn’t my usual spot either but I took it anyway.”
Meredith shrugged, and sat down, less wary of doing so now that the other girl had accepted her in here. “Actually, I think that’s the best way to meet friends. My two best friends that I already met two years ago? This is how it happened.” She held out her hand to shake. “I’m Meredith.”
She hesitated at first, but then the expression gave way to another warm smile as she reached with her own hand as well. “I’m Chloe. Nice to meet you!”
