Happy Valentine's Day
A few more steps through the forest, and they were there. Gideon stopped walking, but he didn't take his hands from Alex's shoulders.
"Okay, now you can open your eyes," he told her, and when he heard her gasp of delight he knew she had. Fairy lights drifted around the branches overhead, the table was set with fettucine alfredo (the one dinner Gideon could reliably make) and proper silverware, and the music had begun playing right on cue.
"You did all this?" she asked as she turned around, rather amazed that he'd go to this kind of trouble. She saw the grin on his face, though, and didn't wait for an answer before throwing her arms around him to kiss it off.
It was a full five minutes before he actually got a chance to say Happy Valentine's Day.
