Over at genome_project, an original game that's somewhat of a cross between Heroes and X-Men, we're looking for a whole slew of characters, but in particular there are three that I would really love to see filled ASAP. The game is in a transitional phase as we just took a jump 15 years into the future but it's still amazing! The general premise of the game is that there were a group of scientists funded by the government who figured out how to give people powers. The first generation of test subjects were confined to an island in Maine (Frye Island) where the scientists could observe them Big Brother-style. Now, the first generation of kids who were experimented on as babies, have children of their own and are spread out over the whole US, though predominantly New York City and Washington, DC.
There are four main groups within the Genome Project: Hellfire, Railroad, the Government, and normal people. Hellfire is an extremist group that operates something like Magneto's rag tag group in the X-Men series wherein they believe in mutant supremacy. Railroad is the more reasonable group of mutants, like the X-Men within the series, where they just want peace and the same rights as any other American. They founded a school for kids who have powers, Wyrd Haven Academy. The government is obviously the government, and there are a few mutants who are involved in politics and even trying to reign in Hellfire members who've gone rogue. Lastly, the normal people are ones that really react to mutants being in society - some are supportive, others hate them.
There are a slew of amazing lines that are open for play but in particular, I'm looking for three characters that would be absolutely amazing to have in game for plot progression purposes.
First up is Sophie and Damon Montgomery. Damon is the eldest of three and Sophie is the youngest of the three, though she has a twin brother who I currently play. They're something like the Malfoys of the game and they run Hellfire. Damon has never been brought in-game but he used to date a girl who is an NPC currently and was referenced in threads. Sophie was in game once but not for long. They would be amazing for plot since they're a terrorist group in the game and could cause a LOT of drama. They each have powers as well, which is really fun to play around with.
Next up is a spouse for Jimmy Monroe. Their history is in the link, as is more information about what I'd like to see for the character. They'd be awesome to have in game because Jimmy recently started cheating on his spouse. He occassionally has a man make him disappear to get away from being a politician, and he recently hooked up with said man. There will be drama eventually and a lot of fun stuff happening, but the line is moot if there isn't a spouse in game to have some drama started with. This person is definitely aligned with the Government but is pro-mutant. They most likely don't have a power but they could have bought one? The gender of Jimmy's spouse is also up to you.
Lastly, and most wanted, is Arthur Bacchus. He's a bit older but he was one of the original scientists on the island. He's done a lot of very shady things, including paying off the mother of a love child that is his son. I play Arthur's granddaughter, who after almost 15 years, is starting to ask questions about who her real father is. The answers aren't as easy to come by because her maternal grandparents were paid to not speak about it, and her mother is dead. Arthur's son, David, is also in game and recently met his daughter, Coraline. The seed has just been planted that Cori may be his daughter and questions will start to arise. I've never seen Arthur in the game but he's been referenced a lot. He is highly desired by multiple parties. Last I knew, Arthur didn't have a power but that might be open for discussion.
If you're interested, want more information about the game/characters, etc. feel free to drop a line here or email me at slm462@nyu.edu!
