Who: Will and Iona Where: Iona's bedroom When: A morning of a shared day off, let's say... Sunday the 2nd, May, 1980 What: Just a cute morning scene of them waking up together. Nothing omg plotty, but more d'awww couple. Rating: PG? F FOR FLUFF. Status: Done!
The mid-morning sun was angling in through the curtains, and Will woke slowly. He was relaxed and had slept comfortably despite the fact that he wasn't in his own home and he had a smile on his face as he opened his eyes to see Iona asleep next to him. He rolled over and wrapped his arm around her, pressing a gentle kiss to her neck and sliding his hand over her stomach.
"Morning, beautiful," he murmured as she stirred.
He was happier than he'd been in years now that he and Iona were together. It made all of the stresses of his life which had seemed so impossible somehow manageable. He still had days or weeks when he felt he would do anything, go to any lengths, to end the war, but he was a hell of a lot quicker to remember that he could still be happy despite the current state of things.
Iona's trip back to consciousness came before he had even said anything and she blinked her eyes open. "Morning," she mumbled, giving a cat-like stretch as she raised her eyes above her head. What time was it even? Was it still morning or had they basically slept into afternoon? It probably didn't matter especially considering they were both off from work.
Getting her senses back, Iona turned in her position to face him. "Good sleep?"
Will almost chuckled as he watched her stretch, and he couldn't help but scratch her belly teasingly. As she shifted to face him, Will propped himself up on one hand and nodded in response as he reached out to tenderly push some hair from her face.
"Quite good, yes. How about you?" he asked, voice slightly rough from sleep. There was no rush to get up, even if Will was not typically the sort to spend his days off lazing around in bed. Today he had absolutely no obligations beyond Iona, and it was a nice feeling.
Iona swatted his hand away immediately, but laughed slightly as well. This felt good -- waking up next to Will meant not having to worry right away on what was going on. Maybe it was a little selfish, and if something was going on, she'd kick herself for being self-absorbed upon hearing about it later but... everyone needed some time to be selfish. This was her time.
"Very good, yup." She pushed herself back so she was lying on her back and looking up at the ceiling, letting her arms fall back by her side.
"Good," Will said, even if the word had already been overused by both of them. He wasn't quite awake enough to make use of his vocabulary. Instead, he just let his eyes close again and he settled next to her. They didn't have any reason to rush out of bed, though he did think they'd likely need breakfast soon. He wanted a real English fry up, and he hoped she had all the stuff for it. Though, it did seem like an awful lot of work.
It wasn't an immediate problem yet, though, and he was happy to pillow his head on his arm and say, "I had a dream about talking vegetables. I think I've been spending too much time with Roger."
Iona gave a low laugh. "Vegetables. Don't tell me you're going to become a vegetarian now, because I'd been planning on a steak dinner tonight."
He grinned at her and said, "If I ever turn down a steak dinner, Iona, I expect your reaction to be to feel for a fever."
Will didn't think he could ever be a vegetarian, not because he had any great love for meat so much as because he was simply not picky enough to ever turn down a meal based on its contents. He'd try anything once, at the very least.
"I know that for sure," Iona said, giving a serious nod, knowing his everlasting love. She couldn't blame him -- she herself could not imagine living off of nothing but vegetarian. Veggie-burgers? No thank you. The real deal, please.
"What do you want to do today?"
"Stay in bed for just a bit, to start," Will said, smiling as his hand went to her side. It had been about two months now since they'd gotten back together, and he was finding it remarkably easy to be with her. Much as they'd had in common before, he felt they were even better suited to each other now. They'd been just a bit too young before, and maybe they'd needed that time in between, long though it had been. "Then maybe I'll make you breakfast. I can manage a fry up, if you want. After that... I have absolutely no obligations today, barring unforseeable circumstances." Which were always a possibility working at the D.M.L.E. "Is there anything you'd particularly like to do?"
"Oooh, breakfast," Iona said, raising an eyebrow and propping her own head up on the pillow on her hand. "Well, we could definitely do that. Surprise me. You know I always loved it when you made me breakfast, no matter what it was."
Afterwards... as pleasant as staying in bed sounded, Iona knew that she herself just had to get up and get out otherwise, she'd feel like the day was completely wasted. Plus, she had several errands to run. But if she had Will with her, it might not feel like chores.
"Nothing in particular that sounds romantic off the bat but we could make it as such. Got groceries to buy and such."
"Groceries! You sassy thing," Will laughed, but leaned in to kiss her affectionately. He too would've felt like a bit of a waste if they'd stayed in bed all day, but there was nothing wrong with enjoying her company from beneath the cozy comfort of her duvet for a little while longer, he thought. "Sounds good to me."
He wasn't particularly fussy. Really, when it came down to it, Will was an easy person to be with. He wasn't picky, he wasn't pushy, he was fairly relaxed and didn't tend to get ruffled feathers. It took a fair amount to really make him mad, after all, and that level headedness extended to most other aspects of his life.
"Did you want to go out tonight, or stay in?" he asked conversationally as he dropped a chaste kiss onto her shoulder.
"Let's go out," Iona said as she started to push herself out of her bed. "A dinner somewhere? All we've done for the most part is stay in and having dinner at home. And while it is nice... it would also be nice to go out for anything other than chores and work." Her clothes... she needed to find them. When Will came over, the clothes tended to fall... well, basically anywhere.
Will sat up and stretched, rubbing his stubbled face and head and began the search for his own clothes. He pulled on his briefs when he found them, then got to his feet and stretched for a long moment, arms reaching above his head as his back popped.
"Out sounds good," he said, then tracked down his trousers and started to pull them on. He smiled at her as he did them up and said, "We do spend a lot of time in one of our respective homes. I'd better take you on a real date or you'll get bored of me."
Iona smiled, grabbed a shirt and throwing it on before walking around the bed toward him. She craned her neck up and planted a kiss on his cheek. "That, Will, is never going to happen."
