Just a minute after she had told her mother she'd be coming home was when Meredith noticed the time. No matter, because she had one little errand to run before she was going to apparate out right away. Vivian, the other tech in the costume department had only left about five minutes ago, and Meredith, starting to feel the soreness in the back of her neck, realized that she really ought to have stopped working minutes ago. Whether there was anyone else in the theatre besides the janitor had no answer of certainty for Meredith, so she didn't bother checking. But whomever was left there would obviously be one of many that knew the wards to the place well, so she wouldn't have to worry about locking up someone inside. Five minutes after the time she was supposed to be go home was when she finally stepped out into the back alley, pulling her peacoat tighter around her. With the semi-clear night sky above her, Meredith couldn't help stealing a glance upward. Full moon had passed already, but the not-so-full moon still brought on a slight chill. Maybe, she thought with a frown, she'll get that bottle of butterbeer for Regulus later. She walked out to the front of the theatre, looking in the direction of the Leaky Cauldron. Yeah, perhaps the next morning. He was probably preoccupied at the moment anyway, so a belated birthday gift would hardly be that big of a deal. Had she a few more seconds to herself, she might have been able to apparate home right away, but those few seconds after her last thought definitely weren't spent alone. Meredith had barely time to react when she suddenly felt the wind knocked out of her. And her face on the ground. Fuck, was all that came up in her mind in a panic before her body was automatically pushing itself up and reaching for her wand. Home, home, home. That's where she needed to be, not in the streets getting mugged by-- Another quick movement pulled her up, slamming her backside against the wall, before she could even get her wand out. Those weren't faces of werewolves, she managed to get a flash of before they closed in on her. Not muggers either because she was fairly she didn't even have her bag on her anymore. Oh, Merlin.. "No, please--" Hands that could have grabbed at her wand was also pushed against the wall, and soon she found herself completely immobile save for a bit of squirming but the squirming did nothing to prevent the bites that followed. The pain mixed with panic followed by dizziness... in some minutes that felt like way way too long and before anyone in the local shoppes was going to pick up on a scuffle going on outside, Meredith went from begging and crying to drifting off to unconsciousness. |
