Diagon Alley was almost eerily quiet in the very early morning hours. Thus the sound of Patrice and the other Death Eaters apparating into the Apparation points could not be hidden. However, as there was no one around to notice, they were able to easily move further into the alley towards their destination. Patrice had spent most of the week reviewing information on the various vigilantes that they had uncovered. He had larger targets, to be certain, but in the meantime, they would be able to get their hands on a target. Remind the vigilantes -- if their note had not done so already -- that the Dark Lord had offered them peace and that they were spitting in the Dark Lord's face and this was not something that was acceptable. He held his hand up outside of the bakery, and waiting for Marcus and Augustus to come to a stop he considered the building through the eyes of his mask. The point was to grab Geoffrey, perhaps use him to get information out of his son, and to ensure that the bakery - the livelihood of this man and his family - was less than likely to provide them with livelihood for a while longer. Turning his head to Augustus and Marcus he nodded to the two outer circle death eaters. "Augustus, around to the back and ensure that he does not get out that way. Marcus, you're with me. Remember, destruction, but we want Pettigrew alive, and we want him." There was no room for argument or failure in Nott's tone. He expected results from this mission and the two men with him would know it. Augustus nodded, noting the tone of his voice and knowing full well that he could not screw this up. He knew full well that the last time he had been entrusted with something more than gathering information on a subject that he had failed in all sorts of ways and he was not going to let that happen again -- absolutely not. He understood the plan, he knew what it was that they had to do, and he had every intention of following through and making a good impression to hopefully build his reputation back up. After all, he knew as well (if not more) than anyone just how precious a good reputation could be. And so, he followed Patrice's direct orders, going around the back to secure that entryway. He was sure that the man would attempt to escape that way and he would be ready, wand out and poised to act. Marcus stayed where he was, as it was his orders to stay with Nott. He noted the tone of Nott's voice and hoped that he wouldn't disappoint him. Unlike others, Marcus hadn't been involved any recent failures and he sure didn't want it to start today. At least this mission was to take the target alive, so Marcus felt more comfortable about his task. Besides, destruction was a lot easier and something he could easily accomplish. As Augustus went around to the back, Marcus waited. As it turned out Geoffrey Pettigrew was up to his eyeballs in pastries and was unaware of the three masked figures ready to descend upon his bakery. The man was humming in the kitchen as he opened the oven to look at those that were inside and then he turned back around to a mixing pan and the batter contained within. Patrice motioned to Marcus to follow him, and with his wand he carefully began to poke at the wards surrounding the bakery. Nott had seen more complicated ones before, certainly, and it was only a moment or two before he was able to bring them down, and with that success he had guaranteed the three Death Eaters entry to the bakery. He smiled under his mask, a tight smile that held no pleasure. "A few blasting spells in the right direction," Patrice directed Marcus as he stepped forward to open the bakery door. "We will grab Pettigrew and then we are out as quickly as we can manage." With the wards down, Augustus slipped in through the back door of the bakery. It was dark, but he could see clearly through his mask. No one was in the room, which made things easier for him as he didn't need to take out some bystander while guarding the door. His hand tightened around his wand, as he eased silently toward the door that led to the kitchen of the bakery - he had been by enough to get an idea of the layout from the front and figured that was where Geoffrey would be. He stopped just short from going in, though, waiting for an order and for Patrice and Marcus to act. Marcus followed Nott and waited as he took down the wards around the bakery. He listened to the instructions he was being given and knew he could manage casting the blasting spell and it wouldn't be something that he would screw up. "Yes, sir," he said in response to Nott to indicate his understanding of the task and hoped that it wouldn't take too long to grab Pettigrew. As soon as they were both inside, Marcus cast a couple blasting spells in the right direction. Patrice moved into the bakery very quickly, and he knew that with Marcus' blasting spells that Pettigrew would be alerted. But as he pointed his wand at door to the kitchen, blasting it off of its hinges, he didn't mind that. Augustus was in place, and Patrice was confident that Pettigrew would be too startled to Apparate immediately. Another rather lazy confringo was shot in the direction of the man in the kitchen. Nott didn't aim to hit him, but rather to hit the fireplace he could see behind him, to block out the option of a floo escape. Geoffrey was startled with the sound of the spells. For a moment he thought that it was something in the street and he was going to move to check and find out what was going on, when the door between the public part of the bakery and the kitchen where the cakes and other pastries were baked was blown off of its hinges. Before he had the opportunity to do much more than think that he should reach for his wand -- that he should floo to his home because whatever this was, he did not want to deal with it alone -- he found more dust and debris flying about him and he reached for his wand -- "Expelliarmus," the simple, and yet immediate response rising to his lips. Stupefy, Nott shot silently towards the coughing figure in their midst, barking at Augustus, "Bind him!" Augustus nodded his agreement, not even pausing to act. His wand was out and with just a flick of the wand, restraints flew out of his wand and went directly toward Geoffrey. He stepped in toward the now unconscious man, reaching down to check the ropes. The last thing he wanted was for the man to come to and cause more trouble than they needed. Once he was satisfied, he straightened back up and coughed just once from the dust that was settling around and near their victim. "He isn't going anywhere." While the others were getting Pettigrew, Marcus cast several more blasting spells at different spots in the front. The bakery wasn't completely destroyed, but it would take them some time to clean up and repair the damage he was causing. It was a shame, really, to cause so much destruction. The bakery did have good pasteries in his opinion and they would be missing out for however long it took to get it running again. But Marcus was satisfied at his work and since the job was done, he was ready to leave. Patrice nodded them all out of the bakery, and quickly before the authorities began to show up. As they left the front door, Patrice held his wand into the air and spoke, "Morsmordre". The Dark Mark shot into the sky over the bakery, leaving an eerie green glow in the early morning sky. |
