GOD BLESS ~AMURRICAMOD! [03 Jan 2014|12:56pm]
Hello, sweethearts. I am here on behalf of [info]amurricamod, a present-day game about an American wizarding school in Roanoke, North Carolina. Everything you know and love about the HP universe still applies to ours, with the added bonus of cultivating a separate and distinct canon colored by American culture and history. We are a small game that has been open since before the summer and heroically active for our size. December is the graveyard month for RPG's and we made it to 2014, baby, yeah! Still turning out those 200+ threads and 100+ group action posts.

Now I know what you're thinking. "If it's been open since the summer, it must be hard to integrate new characters in halfway through the semester, right?" Wrong! We believe in transitioning characters in and out of the game gracefully and create plenty of opportunities to introduce multiple at a time. In the month of January, we have a big gamewide plot planned that will have students transferring over from another school. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, drop us an e-mail at amurricathegame@gmail.com. We are always on our phones checking the mod email for questions and concerns from players and strangers alike. On the other hand, if you want to bring in a long-standing student, you're welcome to do that as well. We set it up so that the Roanoke Academy of Magic is a big school. There isn't a set number of slots to fill like in your run-of-the-mill HP game, so it grows or shrinks according to demand.

CONCEPTS THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IN PLAY:
1. More members of the vaunted Lethifold Club, a secret society based on Morgana le Fay's Avalonian purist ideals. Think Skull and Bones and then imagine giving those psychos a book of dark magic. Many of its members have ties to the First Families of Roanoke, the oldest wizarding families in America who founded the town and the school. And yes, we still have some names available if you want to adopt one of them as your own.

2. Nerds, Nerds, Nerds! We have a ton of new characters who are too cool for school and personally, I would love to see some Star Wars loving, pen protector wearing, ComicCon going nerds in the game. Boys and girls, please.

3. Characters who are fearful and/or hateful towards werewolves. Go through our Timeline and read our writeups about the Werewolf Wars. It's an intolerance that should be more pervasive in the game based on the history that we outlined, but so far the characters have been taking it easy on the lone werewolf at school. That's no bueno. Recalling that Ron Weasley refused to shake hands with Lupin when he first met him, I would say that it doesn't make your character a bad person and in fact what it does do is acknowledge the game canon and add a layer of complexity to the social dynamics of Roanoke. That isn't to say you should come into this with a thin skin! This is definitely for the lionhearts who don't mind getting into IC arguments.

4. Students of different magical backgrounds. We have kids who grew up practicing voodoo, brujeria, kabbalah. Every culture has its own traditions and mythos, so fire up your search engines and set Wikipedia lasers to Awesome. I have said from the beginning that I would love to see more Asian-Americans in the game (who says no, when you have these beautiful icons from [info]infidel?) and especially those coming from a background in Chinese magic or medicine. Send us an e-mail if you want a list of the ideas we have! Trust me, it's worth it.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this post. I hope you guys check out the game and drop a hold. These concepts are mostly just wistful suggestions on my part. We're open to anything and everything that inspires you and tickles your muse to write. I hope something about our game strikes a chord with you!

Love,
