It took her a few moments. She woke up as she had been doing the past month, the past few years - naked, with her head and one hand on Zach's chest, her leg tangled with his. It felt comfortable and normal. Her eyes opened, and the first thing she saw were her books. Some were out of place, but that wasn't so odd. She could even see some of Zach's clothes on the floor, and she tried to remember if she had insisted on undressing him the night before when they were falling into bed. Otherwise, they would be folded neatly.
It took her a few moments to realize that was it, though. She raised her head slightly, the hand on Zach's chest providing leverage for her to look around. There was nothing else that was Zach's in her room, which was a far cry from how it had been when he lived there... Ronnie swallowed nervously, already knowing what had happened. Her eyes welled up as she slowly moved her hand, trying to ignore the empty feeling in her belly before her hand made contact her still-flat stomach.
She sucked in a harsh breath, "Zach-" It isn't real. It isn't real. She wasn't sure if she was reminding herself that the pregnancy hadn't been real, or that their return to 2000 wasn't real, but it didn't matter. Reminding herself didn't help. Ronnie pressed her face into her pillow, immediately trying to stop the crying while her hand still rested on her stomach. She could feel Zach shift beside her, and she reached out to grab his hand, to press it to her stomach and feel how the bump that they had gotten so used to was gone.
She couldn't look at him. On top of being upset about losing their... she felt embarrassed to be crying at all. It didn't matter how many times she had while she was pregnant; it was weak, and she hated Zach seeing her like this. "I'm sorry," she breathed.
