Ceremony
The walk down the aisle took ages, she thought. She was beginning to think it would never end, that she would never reach the man at the end when suddenly they were there.
Ginny blushed under Harry's gaze, knowing she would never get used to the way he looked at her. Arthur kissed her on the cheek and set her hand in Harry's, and then it was just the two of them. She gave his hand a squeeze and smiled. "It's for you, you know," she said softly. "Now let's get married."
The butterflies were going wild in her stomach as they moved toward their places by Kingsley, the officiant. Looking off to the side, Ginny handed her bouquet off to Hermione and gave her bridesmaids a bright smile before turning back to Harry. Both hands in his, she looked to the distinguished wizard standing by them, letting him know they were ready.
"Friends and family," he began, his hands clasped in front of him, resting on his dark red robes. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the love that has grown between these two young people. Harry and Ginny stand before you today to pledge themselves to one another and to bind their lives together for all eternity. A marriage must be built on three things, love, trust, and faithfulness. I see all three things in the couple standing before you today. Though they may be young, they have seen more of life than most people do in decades of living. I know them well, and I am proud to be a part of their story today."
Ginny was aware of what was happening around them, and she could hear what Kingsley was saying, but she only had eyes for Harry. It was a perfect moment, and she wanted to remember everything. Kingsley continued to speak to the crowd, telling them Harry and Ginny's story, even though most of them knew it already. She registered some bits of the story, and heard the laughter when they got to her demand that they get back together, but she didn't focus in again until Kingsley reached the vows.
"Harry and Ginny would now like to express their commitment to each other in their own words," he said, turning to Harry.
---
Harry gave Ginny's hands a squeeze as Kingsley started speaking. Honestly...he didn't hear much. He just kept looking at Ginny, a small smile on his face. Everything else faded away easily, as it always seemed to when he looked at her. Everything the older man was saying flew one ear and out the other; he would have to ask Hermione about details later.
The laughter drew his attention enough to realize what part of the story Kingsley had been at, and he ducked his head, his cheeks tinting a light pink. Merlin, he had been so stupid. Thank Merlin for Ginny, otherwise he would be miserable.
Kingsley's prompting made Harry nod, and he took a deep breath. He only had the vaguest idea of what his vows were, though he had assured Hermione he had written them down. He didn't need to worry about trying to memorize words about his feelings for Ginny. He could describe those easily. "Gin, I've said it plenty of times before, and I can promise you, I will continue saying it: I don't deserve you. I have no idea why you chose me, but I'm so thankful you did. The only thing that I want from life is to make you happy.
I know that we'll have an amazing life together, but I, apparently, am supposed to promise you things. So I'm told," he added, a small smirk flashed over at Hermione. "So - I promise to love unconditionally and honor you everyday. To laugh with you when you're happy; to support you when you're sad; to allow you to challenge me to be a better person (because I can't challenge you; you're already better than me). I promise to be your biggest fan, and to always be there for you, in whatever way you need."
