Awards Ceremony - Alicia and Finley Alicia was a nervous wreck for Finley. He had worked so hard all season and managed to have the best record in the league, even with all the life changes that hit him. They had gotten pregnant, gotten married, moved into a new home, and she was opening a business. Not to mention the struggles he'd had with his agent and, well... it was amazing to her that he'd held it all together.
But he had. And he'd been brilliant. Alicia had been at every single one of his matches, cheering and screaming like a crazy person. She had box seats if she wanted them, but Alicia loved sitting right next to his fans, cheering with them. She was so proud of him and knew, just knew, that no one else in the league deserved the Player of the Year award like Finley did. But she also knew how political it all was and, well, her husband wasn't going to try and promote himself. It simply wasn't his style.
Player of the Year was the last award of the evening. Alicia's knuckles were white from how hard she was clutching her napkin. As The Department Head began to speak, he spoke of someone with unwavering sportsman ship, a passion for the game, a true team player, and an overall wonderful person. Alicia knew he'd gotten it. Her face split into a happy grin and as they said Finley's name, Alicia jumped up and cheered, clapping her hands above her head.
Her husband, the love of her life, had just been award he truly deserved. Tears spilled down her cheeks, and she didn't sit down until Finley had come back to the table.
"Baby," she said and threw her arms around him again. "I'm so fucking proud of you."
