Could this week get any worse? On Monday, Witch Weekly had smeared her again and some of her appointments had canceled as a result. On Tuesday, Paris and the Weird Sisters with Ronnie had been an excellent distraction, but still exhausting. On Wednesday, despite her epic hangover, Parvati had to deal with Padma showing up out of the fucking blue. That had stuck with her through Thursday, of course, and then Friday was the auction, which had been stressful for Vati too because Lavender's creepy Carrow boyfriend had put Vati on the spot. It had all unsettled her enough that even though she probably just needed to go home and sleep, she'd gone out with Cho, whom she barely knew, and had gotten up to so much self-destruction she could barely remember it all just now.
And now this. Boggarts. Parvati knew she needed to pack and get out, but she'd just seen a boggart turn into her greatest fear: herself, dying bloody and in pain and alone, Seeing the end of the world and being able to do nothing about it. The weight of her loneliness on one hand, her crushing guilt over bad things she couldn't control on the other...
Parvati had gotten so far as to answer Ronnie in the journal and then accio a bag out of her closet to start stuffing it with random clothes, books, potions, and personal items. There was no order to it. No thought. She was panicking, and her breathing was speeding up and her hands were shaking and she couldn't think. She tripped over a pair of shoes that had gotten in the way, landed with too much weight on her left leg, and dropped to the floor.
Instead of getting up right away, Parvati just sat there in the corner of her room, put her hands in her hair, and pulled as she tried to slow her breathing. She was too tired. She had been drinking too much this week and not sleeping enough and she couldn't fucking handle this, she couldn't.
Vati tilted her head back, trying to get oxygen, and smacked it against the wall. Then she leaned forward and brought her head back again, on purpose, once, twice, three times more. Not hard enough to do any damage, she just... she needed to get her shit together and get out of here before another boggart showed up. She heard something in the living room, and a heady surge of fear and anxiety washed over her, pressing on her chest.
"Not now, not now, not now..." she murmured. She couldn't handle another waking nightmare right now.
