3am coffee date Who: Terry & Nicole What: Getting to know each other When: 6/17, Friday morning 3am (slightly pre-dated because work) Where: Coffee shop! Rating: Low
Since plans with Lisa had fallen through, Terry had stayed in the labs until two, working on projects and keeping busy until it was time to meet Nicole for coffee. They'd both been at Terence's gathering Wednesday, but there hadn't been much room to talk privately and he was looking forward talking to talking to her one-on-one. He didn't plan to drink much coffee, since he wanted to get some sleep before it was time to pick Ben up at noon, and the auction was later that evening, but this would hardly be the first time he'd pulled what amounted to an all-nighter when he had to function as an adult the next day.
He was dressed in the same slightly disheveled robes as he'd worn to the meeting with Terence earlier, though there were more inkstains and a couple of singed spots where he hadn't moved fast enough. The robes were spelled with protections, so he hadn't hurt himself, but as he arrived for coffee he realized he possibly should have changed. Of course, Nicole had said she was coming straight from work, and since she was a stripper he didn't expect her to be wearing anything formal, so it was probably all right.
There were slight nerves in his stomach as he waited for her to arrive, because this was different from meeting a bunch of people who were somehow related to the Averys. This was a purposeful effort to get to know family on an individual level. It wasn't something he'd ever thought of doing before, even before he'd known his mother's family name. The Averys were important people, a long line of Purebloods. Some of them had ties to Voldemort. He was pretty sure Nicole's father did. Not that he judged her for it, but it was fucking weird.
He spotted her walking towards him and gave a little wave. "Hey. Glad you could make it."
