Fic: Rest, Sephiroth,/Zack, Worksafe
Title: Rest Fandom: Final Fantasy VII Character/Pairing: Sephiroth/Zack Rating: Worksafe Warnings: None Music: Cake "Love You Madly" Summary: Zack and Sephiroth have a chat in the lifestream
"It's all right. You can rest."
Rest. He's never been allowed to rest. It was not why he had been made in a lab, some sort of experiment that had learned too much to be put back in his tank.
It must have infuriated Hojo when Sephiroth had left. Even if the man had proved useful later on, he had been displeased by the fact Sephiroth had gone to Wutai, then refused to go back to how things were before.
"Don't think about that now. Sleep. I'll watch over you."
Opening his eyes, Sephiroth found himself looking into a bright smile and almost as bright eyes. "Zack," he said. Why the man would bother with this ridiculous attempt at playing, he did not know.
"I'm your friend, Seph. Remember?"
He remembered the town of fools that he had destroyed after learning the truth of his creation. He remembered fighting with Zack, playing with the man because it helped cool the anger in his chest. He remembered the little bit of blond fluff that followed Zack around stabbing him in the back.
"Not that, Seph. Before."
It should have been disturbing that Zack seemed to be plucking the thoughts from his mind, but here, in the nothingness that was the Lifestream, anything was possible. And Zack was as much his as Cloud was. Oh, he wasn't nearly as far into the process as Cloud had been, but Zack was every bit as much a failed clone as Cloud had been. The ties there were something that could go both ways, and if anyone could do it, it would be Zack.
"And because I know you, Seph." The smile softened. "Remember before? Like how I found the ticklish spot under your ribs. You always would glare at me, but it didn't take long for you to return the favor. Though you always had the advantage."
A hand brushed over Seph's side, and he couldn't help but shift, an image, fogged over and distant, and he could see what Zack talked about. Tickling? What a strange word for an even stranger sensation.
"No," he pushed the memory away. This was just a trick, something done by a human who wanted to destroy Mother. Sephiroth would not allow that to happen. Zack had tried before to keep them apart, and he would not succeed now.
"Seph...." A sigh, and then Zack kissed his forehead.
That made Sephiroth stiffen more than the casual touches the man had done so far. "Do not overstep yourself," he almost growled, voice cold.
Zack's smile was sad. "I'm not. Why are you letting me hold you like this if you think that I'm such a bad person, Seph?"
A good question. He was laid back, far too exposed, using the man's lap for a pillow.
But, it...did not feel wrong.
Which was enough to tell him something was wrong.
"What are you doing to me?"
Another kiss on his forehead. "Nothing, Seph. You are just remembering. Even if you can't really remember, you know enough to realize that this isn't bad."
Fingers carded through his hair, and he felt himself relaxing, willing or not. "Rest, Seph. I promise, after you sleep some, you'll feel better."
Eyes shutting, Sephiroth could no more stop himself from relaxing as he could stop himself from breathing. "Not safe," he managed to say, unsure why he was letting himself go so easily.
