Bonnie's magic had been nonexistent since her unexpected and unwanted departure from her hometown of Mystic Falls, Virgina. Even before then, her confidence was shaken to the core thanks to the sight of her grandmother melting, tortured and in pain, in her arms as she broke her word and once more tapped into dark magic. It always seemed she was caught in the middle and neither outcome would ever lend itself to favorable results. Save Tyler and watch her grandmother be punished by the spirits for her granddaughter's dark magic or watch Tyler die and Caroline cry at the hands of Klaus. Either way, Bonnie knew she would lose something, but she would rather lose than have her friends lose it all. When it was done, when it was finished, she would lock up the pain again and be okay somehow. It might take her a few days, a few weeks, but she would be okay in the end. Why? Because she was Bonnie Bennett and big girls don't cry. She couldn't afford the tears and the pain. Her friends needed her to be strong and protect them. In this strange place, it was more important than ever that Bonnie keep herself together and get them all back home safe and sound.
Because witches were always more drawn to nature and most, if not all, of their magic sprung from the world around them, Bonnie decided to go back to nature to try and find herself again. She was told the woods weren't safe and though she was still quite a threat, her lack of magic made her eventually bum a dagger off someone. Now, deep in the foliage of this mysterious place, she tried to calm herself. It was hard. Elena was with Damon now and while Bonnie would never like the vampire, she respected her best friend's choice. Elena didn't trust Stefan anymore; Rebekah was here and so was Katherine, too. Then there was Caroline and Bonnie was grateful to her. If she didn't have the blonde, she might have really lost it all by now. Instead, her best friend kept her sane and together when everything else in her world was falling apart. She would do anything to keep Caroline safe, too. The silence of was the woods was overbearing and she knew if she wanted to retrieve her magic from the hold of self-doubt she would have to get herself together and push all these thoughts away. Her mind had to be clear or her magic would forever allude her.
The witch finally settled into a spot beneath one of the trees and sat cross-legged upon the ground. Her hands clasped in front of her, Bonnie took a deep breath and closed her eyes. As far from home as she was, she knew there was magic in this place and hopefully the spirits would sense her abilities and protect her. The best case scenario: they would lend her their powers too. She could only pray there was good amongst the bad that the princess had been talking about. While she had used dark magic before, she didn't want anyone else getting hurt. However, right now, she might not have much of a choice if it was the only way to get home. Her lips parted and she started whispering words, a simple spell to cause the plant life around her to awaken and rise to the sky for life. If she could do this, she would be well on her way back to the witch she was. If she couldn't-no, she would just keep trying.
